New to Postals, Looking to Join a Ring

Hey y'all!!

I've been letterboxing for a few years now and I would really love to try out postals. I messaged LittleMonkey about a Newbie Postal ring, but haven't gotten a reply. Is anyone looking to start a new ring that I can jump in on and learn on the fly? :)

What is a mystery postal?

It is a postal where you can't just join. A number of clues is given by the organizer, and the first N (whatever that number may ge) will be added to the list to receive the stamp.

I have been wanting to start them again since football season began. I've been swamped with work, but will try to start one next week.

I had a good run of successes this year solving your mysteries. A couple where I should have guessed but didn't think that my answer could possibly be right and I would have been! The Jeep one I got pretty quick.

Curious, do you plant the stamps after them being postals?

When it’s a pipe bomb. I can’t help but notice the similarities in packaging of the recent despicable occurances of fear mongering terriorists using the USPS for their nefarious actions. I think there will be a crackdown at our local POs 1) to confirm return addresses, and 2) making sure postage is correct and properly cancelled. I can’t be the only one who noticed there was only $3 worth of postage on a minimum $3.50 package and that the stamps weren’t cancelled.

Maybe insufficient postage is why they were found. They must have come postage due.

Maybe micropostals will be better for a while.

It is a really sad day when our fun hobby is affected by life threatening situations. What is wrong with people?? This world is going mad and all we are trying to do is create and spread the word on a fun filled family hobby... Just sad! :( Rant over!!

Sometimes they are planted but many are just stored. If there are any someone would like to plant they are welcome to them.

Yay! We love your Mystery Postals. We don't always get to solve them because some are harder for us than others ;)
Looking forward to seeing more!
Thanks IrishRef!

Unless you're mailing it to a politician don't worry about it.

Secret Stamp Santa is back for its 7th year! While this is not a traditional postal, you will be mailing a stamp and receiving one back in the mail, so that's why I'm posting it here. All info is on the tracker, but questions are welcome. We already have people from 24 states signed up!

Households are welcome to send more than one stamp - just let me know the trail names of all of the people who are participating when you send me you address. Kids are welcome to carve too, as long as a parent can help with the mailing process.

Stamps don't have to go out until the first week of December, so you have over a month to prepare.

New Mystery Postal is now open for your enjoyment

Here comes a long over due mystery postal. Hopefully this will keep you sane among all the Christmas music and movies. For those who are new to mystery postal world and for those who need a refresher the rules follow.

To get this postal you will have to guess the theme/name/subject of the stamp. Clues will be posted on the postal boards and on this tracker. I will try and post one per day. For each clue posted each person may make one guess prior to the next clue being posted.

Guesses should be sent to IrishRef via AQMail, not posted on the boards! Guesses will only be accepted from AQ members through AQMail.

Even if you have no clue take a guess anyway. Half the enjoyment is seeing the range of incorrect answers and how people connected clues for those guesses. You will only get a response from IR if you: A. Have the correct answer, B. Are very close or I need to clarify your guess, or C. Your guess peaks my fancy.

The first 10 members correctly guessing will be notified by AQMail. Tracker order will typically be determined by order correct answer receipt (Exception to this are international winners who will be at the end of the tracker). The correct answer with how each clue is related will be posted once the postal is full.

Clues:

1. Roswell

Check out the tracker at the following link:

We are off to a running start with several nicely twisted guesses on clue one. A couple intrigue me and one hit my funny bone. I failed to mention that this is Mystery Postal #417. However, it is listed as such on the tracker.

As the newbies will learn the clues will all match somehow but are rarely straight forward. That being said the first clue has most focused on the obvious while I will more than likely veer off in another tangent tomorrow. Best advice is to always look at the clues as a collection toward one answer. The trap is trying to make all the clues fit down one rabbit hole. That being said there are not any red herrings but many clues can have multiple meanings. And as Grand Flyers would tell you there is more than one Roswell in the USA.

mwhahahahaha!
