Is every day a (certain color)-Cat Appreciation Day? (Because I'm good with that.)

I've never had a ginger cat, but there's a ginger tabby I met once that I very nearly adopted on the spot--he just looked at me quietly and diffidently as if he wanted very much to get some petting but didn't want to be a bother, and I felt an instant connection to him. If my apartment at the time had allowed pets, I don't think I could have said no.

I'm very happy with my wonderful black cat now, but every so often I think of Beverwyck and hope he found a happy home where he gets as much petting as he wants.

I'd wager he did. Friendly cats get adopted so quickly.

I've often thought about the almost adopted animals in my life as well. I need one of those money trees so I don't have to think about them and have them here.

What a sweet story, thanks for sharing.

The only other orange cat I knew was a terror. He belonged to a friend of mine years ago. So when we found the abandoned 3 week old twins I was skeptical - not only for that reason but because I wasn’t a ‘cat person’ in general. ECP who has always been a kitty lover just had to take the poor pathetic things.

On the way home, with the kittens in a cribbed cardboard box, ECP whispers to me me in a confessional tone, “I’ve never really liked orange cats”. We laugh about that now. We both grew to love those two boys so much it hurts. We are both ginger cat converts forever!

Yup! (Well, Albany.) A local rescue, Happy Cat Rescue, often puts their cats in my local Petco, and they come up with some pretty great names for the cats! I hope whoever adopted Beverwyck didn't change it. (To be honest, I throw the name around once in a while because I'm secretly hoping someone will say, "Beverwyck? How funny, that's my cat's name. He's a ginger tabby I adopted about 8 years ago," and then it will turn out it's the same cat.)

(When I adopted my cat from them a few years later, his name was Lovey--a fitting name, but not that interesting. I changed it to Cricket, a name which suits him well!)

Doesn't it always happen that way? They wiggle their way into our hearts whether we want them to or not.

In my experience, orange cats are the bestest — like yellow labs. One of our cats, Dash, is a long-haired, peach-colored love. He comes when called (even from across the yard), will carry on a conversation with you, and will lay on our younger son's stomach/back whenever the son is on the floor. He definitely knows who he belongs to!

Ender is a handsome fellow. Sorry I missed the actual day...I'm currently on my third ginger - all females. My vet shared that 85% of ginger cats are male and our current orange lady "Summer" was the only female she had in her practice.

Almost all calico cats are female. Of the very rare males, all but 1:3000 are sterile.

Hi,
I have a question that I am not sure if I even know what I am talking about.....great way to start huh??

So is there a website or somewhere that you can direct people to vote that is confidential and the results get sent to a third party, or maybe all the people on the ballot?

Here is the scenario....our booster board president is a tool. Long story, he just doesn't do anything in a fair manner. Does what he wants to suit his purposes or further his daughter. For our elections last year, he sent a group email to those that were eligible to vote for the upcoming season board members. (if you attended 2 or more meetings you were eligible to vote) So he sent out the email saying Bob and John are running for president (he is Bob!)
Tom and Kate are running for VP and so on.
Please reply back to him and copy in Sue for accounting purposes.

There were some feelings that he removed a winner and added someone else, either with Sue's knowledge (who wouldnt say anything due to fear of repurcussion) or somehow without.

Doesnt it seem strange that the ballots go to someone who is on the list?

So what i want to know is there a site that you can enter the position, and who is running. Then email it to those that are eligible. Then the site emails everyone and announces the winner.

Does that make sense....is there such a thing?

Thanks

The atlanta roller girls use to use Survey Monkey for board position elections and various other votes. It let you vote on up to six options and was fairly tamper proof-certainly more tamper proof that having candidates count the votes. I dont think it is free, but it is likely to be cheap.
You could also require in person voting with marbles in jars and then just weigh the jars, which can be reused indefinitely. (This is how we elected folks in scouts...)

Definitely use survey monkey. Certain features are free and you can make it anonymous.

That is very strange. Imagine if the 2016 presidential election were counted by the (then) current president and CC'd to the Secretary of State for accounting purposes. Or you could reverse (as in political parties) it if you like.

Now imagine trying to get the incumbent of your local election to change how the voting is done.

Can you limit it to one person, one vote?
If I have six e-mail addresses, can I vote six times?
Does SM have a way to limit it to specific addresses and one vote per address?

Q1: How large is the voting pool?
Q2: Could it be done the same way as when I get a proxy vote in the mail?
Everyone gets, via US post office, a ballot with the choices.
There's a postage paid envelope included for the ballot to be returned to a mailbox, not a person.
It's clearly stated "Vote For Not More Than One Person" per position.
Ballot will be invalidated if photocopied or otherwise altered.
One ballot per envelope, or every ballot in envelope is voided.
A custom made stamp (a la letterboxing stamp) will be on every ballot to avoid reproduction.

good point. Though if all the sudden there were 25 votes it would look suspicious....there are usually only a handful of voters anyway. Its just gotta be a way that there is no possible tampering. (enough of that in the real world)

If not survey monkey, I think I may insist on in person voting....come to a meeting, fill out a form and put it in a hat and then be counted! Boom done! Old school sometimes is the better way to go.
