Description

While heading through Hampton Falls, NH on our way to pick apples a few weeks ago, we passed by a sign that said "Wakeda Campground", and I thought we should check it out, since we had never noticed it before. We went and picked our apples, and on the way back home, pulled in to take a quick look. That turned into a drive-thru tour, then a second visit that involved a more detailed walkthrough tour and information gathering with one of the owners. This place is a hidden gem that is just screaming to have an invasion of letterboxers! So, we've decided, along with the help of gollygee, to host our first official event at Wakeda Campground in Hampton Falls, NH. Check out their website:

Wakeda Campground

This is an extremely clean and well-kept campground, with plenty of space and features, secluded enough to make it a real camping experience, while at the same time being close enough to just about anything you might need or want to do. We had originally thought about holding this Memorial Day weekend, but we found that they are crazy busy that weekend. However, we found out that either the weekend before or the weekend after, they are practically empty, and we'd have quite a bit of freedom and room to spread out, and almost have the place to ourselves! I didn't want the event to be too close to some of the other big events, so we decided that this would probably be the best time for us to fit this in.

If there are enough of us, we've been told there is the possibility of a discount, and because of it being pre-season, there is a possibility that some of the fees, like the $10 fee for an extra adult on a sight, wouldn't be used. We'll have more details in the future, especially once we see how much interest there is, but we're already planning plenty of things to do and boxes to find, so we hope you'll be able to join us for some boxin', relaxin' and early season fun!

If you check out the Campground Map, we're hoping to use the "XL" section, from sites 9 & 14 back, but if there is plenty of interest, we will have plenty of options and space throughout the campground.

We'll have updates frequently as we learn more and collaborate with the campground - we're already really looking forward to seeing you there!

I just set up a page on our blog especially for the event, that has a list of reservations that have been made so far, and will have more info and updates as we move along. I'll post here with any significant additions and changes, but check it occassionally for minor updates, and once you've made reservation, please let me know - I'll add you to the list!

Also, you can cut costs but sharing a site if you'd like - I made this post last week explaining this. More to come - looking forward to seeing you there!

April 22, 2013: Themed PT
The PT theme for Weekend at Wakeda is Totem-ize Your Sig Stamp. The requirements for this PT are that it is ONE INCH WIDE at both the top and bottom of the stamp, and no more than three inches elsewhere. This will ensure that we can all stack our totem PTs on top of each other and make one big totem pole. So start thinking about how to make your sig stamp look totem pole-y! :) We will have a posterboard at the event, where we will ask you to stamp your PTs. Then at the end of the event we will give this to the Wakeda Campground owners as a thank-you gift. Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

April 22, 2013: Pot Luck Update
I see several of you have already signed up for potluck stuff, wanted to give you an idea what Bubs and I were thinking for anyone who would like to join in .....Friday night we will provide a BBQ of hamburgers/hotdogs/veggieburgers. So anything you'd like to bring to contribute (chips/salads/drinks/desserts) that would be great. For Saturday morning we will have coffee available and were thinking of a continental breakfast ( muffins/cereal/fruit, juice (will have a toaster for bagels etc....) for Saturday night we will provide spaghetti dinner, so those who want to take part and bring something to contribute: salad/garlic bread/desserts/drinks to go with that would be welcome! Of course, this is optional and you are welcome to bring your own food or eat at a local restaurant. We are so excited about this event and are looking forward to being your host! BB3

May 10, 2013: Newest Wakeda Update!
Let me start by apologizing - all this time I was thinking that when I edited the event page, a notice went out to all of you about what I had written. Turned out I was doing it wrong, and I apologize! Hopefully now I'm getting it right and will be flooding out some notifications. ;)

May 15, 2013: Reservations
Just a quick note: if you haven't made your reservations, now is the time to do so!!! With just over two weeks away, we need to get our numbers complete for both ours and the campground's planning purposes, so get calling!
