Description

St. Thomas is known for many things but most famously for its railway history. Even the majestic statue of Jumbo on the hill overlooking the west end of the city is part of our railway heritage. For more on our heritage, check out this link https://www.railwaycitytourism.com/blog/the-railway-city-the-past If you haven't been to St. Thomas for a while, you will be amazed by the changes to our downtown and parks in the last couple of years. I know I am. If you've never been to St. Thomas, I think you are going to love it.

Please join us for a day of adventures and letterboxing fun.

We won't be meeting up first thing in the morning although our team will be very easy to find about town. I will email everyone a booklet of clues the day before the event which includes the locations where you will be able to find the Big Blue Team at various points of the day. In fact, if you find any of us, there are some special stamps to commemorate our meet ups. Yes, we are going to be actual clues/hiding spots . . . LOL!

Please join us for exchanges and a pot luck picnic at the St. Thomas Elevated park at noon. I can't wait for you to see this beautiful park! So excited! The elevated park has been built by volunteers and one of them will be be at the park at lunch to do a 10 minute presentation.

Parking is near the entrance to the park at 1 Centre Street in St. Thomas.

If you need a place to stay while attending our event . . .

I’m so happy you are coming to Box ON.

If you are looking for a nice local motel:
http://www.cardinalcourt.ca/location.htm
http://newelginmotel.ca/

Nice hotel between St. Thomas and Hwy. 401:
https://stoneridgeinn.com/

Or use one of the hotel sites like expedia and search London ON which is 15 minutes up the road from us. Look for hotels that say South London or Westminister as they are the closest areas to us and to Hwy 401.

If this doesn’t help, please let me know and I’ll see if there is another way I can help.

Sep 12, 2018: Lunch Venue
I'm very excited about our lunch venue. Here's just a little bit of its history: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsrLzFQvpP8

The bridge is being carefully transformed into the first elevated park in Canada. I can't wait to show you what has been accomplished already by 100% volunteer effort.

See you soon.

Sep 26, 2018: Clues
Hi folks. I'm hanging my head in shame right now. I planned to have the clue books done tonight but it won't happen until tomorrow.

I broke my finger a few days ago and my progress has slowed to a crawl. All that's left is the typing . . . sigh.

I will be able to finish Thursday. I just can't do anymore today.

On a happier note, I'm very excited about all the boxes we've planted and can't wait to see you all.

Pam

Sep 28, 2018: One more sleep
Hal and I are so excited to see you all tomorrow . . . old friends and new!

Everything is ready. In fact one group have already started . . . LOL!

Need help with directions or any other info? Just call my cell 226-504-6660.

Safe travels everyone,
Pam
