Description
Come to our 16th TX Annual Letterbox Event (TALE) as we go west to the site of the Halloween Haunts Event held back in 2012. Because it will be TX Independence Day I thought it would be nice to show our TX pride. This can be any person, place, thing or event that makes you proud to be a Texan (or wish you were one). This is not a State Park, so those passes won't work here, but hopefully it will be more letterbox tolerant.Nov 2, 2018: TX Bingo
Since the TX Bingo game was so successful at Live & Breathe XX, we have decided to play at TALE instead of having a raffle. Each person will get 1 free card that they will stamp with some of the 51 available stamps carved by Baby Bear. You might want to stamp all 51 in your logbooks, too. We will have prizes for winners, but donations will be appreciated.
Jan 10, 2019: Free Entry on Saturday
I just found out that booking the Dining Hall includes free entry on Saturday to the first 50 people that check in. Even if you come on Friday, just tell them you are with the group at Dining Hall on Saturday reserved by me (Steve, not Silver Eagle). If they ask what the group is, just say we are a hiking club.
Since we are doing Bingo instead of a raffle this year we won't need that many prizes, so instead of bringing prize donations, consider donating some of your entry fee savings to help defray some of the costs. Thanks, and see you soon!

Feb 27, 2019: Almost Time!
TALE 16 is only a few days away and I wanted to say a few more things to everyone, especially those who have not attended a TALE before. I've had several people ask about procedures for placing boxes at the event, and the way most people do it at our events is to place boxes related to the theme (TX Proud this year) the day before or morning of the event and write up the clues. We will have a copier so you can make copies of your clues for others to use and you keep your original. Then after exchanging and eating, people take copies of the clues and go letterboxing most of the afternoon. We get back together around 6pm to eat again and play TX Bingo. We then clean up to be out of Dining Hall by 9pm and go sit around a campfire, so bring chairs for that.
Since last year we had problems with people looking for boxes in campsites of non-letterboxers by mistake, I recommend not having any boxes at your campsite unless you can make it very clear which one it is. Also, remember our hobby is about stealth, so keep a low profile. See y'all soon!
