Description
Do you have stacks of books in every corner of your home? Do you forget to eat or sleep because you were reading? Do you know more about your favorite fictional character than you do your family or friends? Have you ever suffered from a book hangover? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions than you might benefit from a BA meeting. Come join us and work out your book frustrations through finding book themed letterboxes.
Come in your comfy, lounge-around-the-house, I'd-rather-be-reading clothes. Skip the contacts and proudly wear those book nerd glasses. Idaho weather is unpredictable, so be prepared for sun, rain, snow, wind, etc.
Please sign up for the potluck. If you can tie the food to a book (i.e. The Very Hungry Caterpillar or Good Enough to Eat) that would be great, but it isn't necessary. Plates, utensils, napkins, etc. will be provided, so please don't sign up for those items.
As a way to earn extra raffle tickets, I will be collecting children's books to donate to Book It Forward Idaho. They accept books for ages infant to 18 years, but usually run short on books for junior high level readers and chapter books for 2nd and 3rd graders. Please make sure the books are new or in like new condition. These books will be given to children in low income households. Children in these households have 1 book to every 300 kids whereas children in middle to high income households have an average of 50 books per child. As someone who loves to read and who grew up surrounded by books, these numbers shocked and devastated me. Please help in supporting this cause. To learn more about Book It Forward Idaho, check out their website at https://idahovoices.org/get-involved/book-it-forward/. You will receive 2 raffle tickets for every book you bring to the event to donate.
The park is a State Park so there is a $5.00 fee per vehicle unless you have one of the State Park passes on your car (then it's free!) so if you can carpool you might save yourself five bucks!
The view map button doesn't show you where the park is. If you know where Lucky Peak is, just head toward that area. Otherwise, make your way to Highway 21 by taking the Gowen Field/Federal Way exit from the freeway and follow the signs to Idaho City. Or you can follow Warm Springs all the way to the highway and take a left. At the first damn, the highway splits. The park entrance is where the highway comes back together. We have the lower shelter, so when you pull into the park you will go to the right.
Sep 21, 2018: Getting excited!
Hey all! Are you ready for tomorrow? I sure hope I am!
Just a suggestion, gloves might be a good idea for some of the boxes.
Also, I'm so happy that so many stamps have been added by attendees. I don't have internet at home and am heading there to finish up some last minute details. I'm going to ask that no more stamps are added at this point so that I can have an accurate list. Thanks to all those who have added, I'm sure they will be amazing.
See everyone tomorrow!
