It's our eighth annual Soup's On! Save the date, as always, on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Come relax with us before the rush of the holidays. Spend the day boxing on beautiful neighboring farmlands, and then wind up at a soup potluck dinner in the evening (please pack snacks or a light lunch to hold you over 'til late afternoon).

We'd like to serve soups (stew, chilli & chowda welcome too!), appetizers, drinks, a few breads, and a few desserts. Simple & yummy. If you want to box for the day, but are bringing hot food, feel free to drop your crock pot or other food supplies here before hitting the trails. The theme this year is Winter.

Jan 22, 2018: Stamp Carving/Donation Trackers
The theme for Soup's On this year is winter. We are on the lookout for stamps if anyone would be willing to carve, or for donations of any used stamps you may have. I can return the stamps or permanently plant them, whatever you like.

Sep 30, 2018: Soup's On - Getting Ready
Thank you to everyone who sent stamps. Planting has begun. We expect to have 122 stamps this year.

Potluck signups are looking great. Looks like plenty of bread/desserts, we could use more soups and drinks please. Pots/food items can be dropped at the house early in the day if that helps.

We usually eat around 4pm, so please bring snacks or bag lunch to hold you over til then. Please also bring flashlights for nightboxing and getting back to the parking area after dark.

As we get closer I'll send out address, parking info, hiking maps, clues, etc. Feel free to bring any event boxes and LTCs you’d like to share and please update your PT list if needed.

Nov 15, 2018: Soup's On Clue Book!
This is it, our final set of Soup’s On pre-event notes. Please read carefully, there are some changes from previous years:

***New parking access*** – When traveling down our street to get to the parking lot, please stay on the gravel road only (not the field), until the gravel road passes a house and goes through an island of trees. Then look for marked area where you can turn to the right to get off the driveway and into the parking field. Beware of raised edges and stakes along the edge of the driveway and please only cross the edge in the place we designated with cones.

Feel free to come to the house to drop off supplies as early as 7am. We’re happy to tend soups for you during the day. We typically have all the soups ready by 4pm, so please bring snacks or bag lunch to hold you over til then.

Please also bring blaze orange, and flashlights for nightboxing and getting back to the parking area after dark. Fair warning, the trails are a bit muddier than usual in some spots, but most areas are ok.

It contains the address, parking instructions, and other tips. Please print and bring your own copy. There will also be a WOM board just inside the front door. If anyone is around in the late evening that can help pack up tables and chairs, that would be great. Thanks everyone!

Nov 16, 2018: Soup’s On & So is a Layer of Snow..
Yup, it snowed, and it just didn’t melt off quickly as we had hoped. Here is where we stand:

The wooded trails have about 4” of snow. We are working on marking the trails and installing the bridges, so we’ll be ready tomorrow if you are. The weather was beautiful today and will be great tomorrow too. The scenery is fantastic, just not what we were hoping. I guess that’s what happens when our theme is “winter”.

The field we use as a parking lot is not fit for vehicles. Please do not use it, (we did not even remove the construction barriers up between the new driveway and the field as previously planned). We have worked it out with a local business to use their parking lot, and we will shuttle people and their supplies in from there. The shuttle location is: J&E Precision, 107 Valley Road, Southampton MA 01073. In order to arrange your “Soup’s On Uber” shuttle ride, please call the phone number on the front of the clue book. We can bring you to the Soup’s On house where you can visit with us or hit the trails.

If you were planning to have a WOM box on your vehicle, we would be happy to help you find a spot in or around the house if you would rather. There is a WOM board this year.

Feel free to send questions. We hope to see as many people as possible, but we certainly understand that this changes things quite a bit.

Nov 19, 2018: Leftover Soup
Thanks again everyone for participating and making Soup's On so fun for us all, and for all your kind words on the boxes and the boards. I was truly thrilled that so many made the trip even considering the snow. It will be awhile before we choose the theme of "winter" again, that's for sure. It was silly to see so many of us bare foot, and I'm glad my dryer didn't eat anyone's socks. A few final notes:

(1) Lost and found: a few plastic ladles, that's it.

(2) If you have a moment, please share your soup recipe with me (I often get requests for them).

(3) The stamps are about all picked up, if you have an idea for where you'd like to see a particular series or stamp end up, please let me know. Happy to share stamps to good homes.
