Sep 9, 2018: West Michigan Fall Gathering!
Hey Everyone! Only 5 weeks until the fall event! The location for the gathering has been added... this year we will be at Yankee Springs State Park/Rec Area near Middleville. It's been several years since we've been here, but it is one of our favorites as this park has a great trail network. The shelter is on Gun Lake -- about halfway down the peninsula that juts out into the lake and ends at Murphy's Point. There is a map here:

We've decided not to do a potluck at this year's event, rather the food arrangements are bring your own. Please bring your cooler and/or picnic basket with tableware, drinks, and whatever food and snacks you'd like for your group. There is electric at the shelter if your group wants to bring something in a crock pot. Alcohol is not permitted.

There are a couple of reasons we've gone to this format:

1) Some people like to break at lunch time, others like to break later in the afternoon and some prefer to eat after they've spent the entire day letterboxing... there just is not a good time to try and coordinate a potluck meal and those who break later in the day often end up missing out, even though they contributed.
2) While we certainly appreciate the effort that everyone puts into their dish to pass, we get a lot of cookies and chips and not a lot of actual food.

This is a themed event for which Doglvrs and myself will be carving and planting all of the boxes. If you wish to bring table boxes or plant a box of your own, please feel free to do so, but you will need to provide clues for those boxes.

We are looking forward to seeing all of our letterboxing friends, catching up with everyone, and spending a beautiful Autumn day on the trails!

Oct 9, 2018: Less Than a Week Away!
Hey Letterbox Friends! We're down to less than a week now until the annual West Michigan Fall Gathering. We're looking forward to seeing many of our old friends and meeting new friends at Yankee Springs State Rec Area on Saturday! A few last minute details/reminders:
1) This is a Michigan State Park. As such, a MI State Park Passport tag is required for entry. Keep this in mind if you don't have one or are from out-of-state. For cost details, please check the Michigan DNR page.
2) There is not a fee for attendance this year, however as there is cost involved in renting the shelter, printing clues, etc., there will be opportunity for donations, which are greatly appreciated.
3) Areas of this park are open to hunting, so it may be wise to wear brightly colored clothing while out on the trails.
4) Coffee and morning refreshments will be provided, but lunch is "bring your own", including paper products and drinks. Electricity is available if you would like to bring something warm for your group.
5) If you have a stamp to share, either planted or for the table, please feel free to do so, but you will need to provide your own clues.
6) It would be an advantage if you have Internet access... not a necessity, but very helpful. As most people have smart phones, this is probably a given, but you'll want to make sure they are charged!
7) If you have them, don't forget your personal travellers!

Nov 13, 2018: Bonus box clue
Hello beer lovers!
Does anyone still have a photo of the bonus box clue from my Hall Lake series?
The clue went missing after the gathering.
