Stamp Carving Theme

Marjorie trying to flip a rubber stamp over for carving

Yes, that’s right, a letterboxing theme! Shocking, with all of the dozens and dozens of themes created over the years, not a single one honored letterboxing. Holidays, crazy flying cows, countries from around the world, but never a letterboxing theme.... until now!

If you’ve never tried carving because you think you aren’t artistic enough or because it seems to hard, give it a try. If you can trace an image, you can carve a stamp. Seriously. No more complicated than staying within the lines of a coloring book. The tools might feel a bit awkward at first and might take a little getting used to, but you’ll be surprised at just how fast and easy it is to carve a stamp if you give it a try.

And once you’re carving your own stamps—you can make anything! You’ll have an original, one-of-a-kind stamp that nobody in the entire world has! You can plant original stamps in boxes all over the world. It’s a good skill to have if you want to get serious with letterboxing, and it’s fun too!

We have a special photo album for First Carvings. Most of them are rather crude (including my own!), but hey, they’re our first carvings! We have another album for Recent Carvings—significantly improved from our first attempts!

So if you haven’t tried carving your own stamps, give it a whirl. The worst that could happen—you don’t like the results and drop them in the trash, never to see the light of day. But it might just be that you’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll be impressing yourself with your own work!
