I'm not panicking as much as I would have done when I first started on AQ - but where have all the icons gone?

I have learnt that the Great Tortuga is usually busy tweaking things when My Page starts to look funny. However, just in case it is me that has broken AQ I am letting you know that I can't see any icons anywhere. None in my logbook, non on My Page and as for those eyes in the theme they really are blinking now. One minute they are there, then they have blinked and gone. They are missing for irratic periods of time but the icons don't come and go.

What are you up to GT?

A fluke? I don't know--I didn't update anything last night (except for the ability to add special characters such as © ™ or _subscripts and ^superscripts, but that has absolutely nothing to do with icons.

And they're showing up for me okay. =)

Oh dear, this has been happening all day for me.

I have just logged on and I thought oh great the icons are back, but 3 minutes later they had vanished again. I am left with just small square boxes and words indicating what the icons should be. Even on the city search the map of USA has vanished.

I wondered if it was an Opera problem and have just logged out and back in with Firefox. Sure enough it seems ok with Firefox and the icons are still with me. Why should Opera start spiting out icons though? There hasn't been an Opera update lately or anything.

Odd, but I don't have a good explanation for that. *scratching head* I'd imagine if it's a problem that a lot of people have been having I'd have heard reports from hundreds of others wondering what happened to their icons, so I'm assuming it's just you. Of course, you're the only person I know who regularly uses Opera, so if it's an Opera related problem, it could be affecting all people who use Opera and nobody would ever know it but you. =)

But it seems odd that it would work one day then suddenly stop working.

The icons do show up on my version of Opera, but I just logged in long enough to test that they work. I haven't used it a lot to see if the icons would suddenly stop showing after a period of use.

In a nutshell, I'm baffled. *scratching head*

Could it be as simple as the icons did not load but did on refresh or the next page clicked?!? A simple "timeout" when loading would put up a placeholder which may be that box or maybe it just stopped loading at that point so nothing appeared?

Well, whatever it was it is cured now, even on Opera. All my icons are back. Perhaps the Halloween Theme spooked my computer, although that mask of Guy Fawkes is enough to spook anything.

weird...this is happening to me now...and I don't even know what opera is...other than a high pitched music that I cannot understand what they are saying...little empty boxes where icons should be, red "x's" in the corner, and some have words as to what they are supposed to be...for what it's worth, I have looked at about maybe 30 pages of mesages this morning...and it happened on 3...seems to be random?
