"Playing Letterboxing"

Just wondering if anyone else's kids play letterboxing. Ours [ages 2 & 4] will hide containers in the yard, under the train table, etc and try to get the other to find them! My daughter [2] has also whispered to me at the store that she was looking in a bin for a letterbox! Now what does that tell you about Mommy & Daddy's addiction?

When McDonald's had the strawberry shortcake stampers in the Happy Meals last year, Princess Minty and Star Commander thought they were letterboxes by McD's and would hide them around the house and make maps leading to them for each other.

That's where my most awful carves end up. I hate to just throw them out, so the kids us them the same way yours do!

That gives me an idea for rainy days. The boys (1 & 2 1/2) don't read quite yet but I could still "hide" boxes for them to find and do the warm and cold thing! Thank you!! They think every plastic box w/a lid is a letter box anyway.

Do any of these kids go to school or daycare? I can only imagine what their teachers might think when they try to get their friends to hide the lock n locks out of their lunches.

Or simple picture clues or audio-taped directions.
What fun you all will have!

So many great ideas!!! Thanks!
And Dizzy, sorry I didn't mean to scare you, yes they are all letterboxes! We use ziplocks for food now so all the containers can be letterboxes. ;>

3DTs - No, mine aren't in school yet - but we HAVE had playdates where kids take out their lunchboxes and my kids exclaim "A LETTERBOX!!!" And then of course, there's the necessary struggle for who gets to open it - while some poor kid is crying that they took his lunch.
This only happened once...

Whenever my 3 year old gets her hands on a computer (either my laptop or a toy) she starts tapping keys and tells us that she is either looking up "geocashing" or "letterboxing".

Too funny! Is that one of those situations where you are trying to be the stern parent but your sides are splitting from not laughing out loud?

My son who is 3 hid a tin of cookies from his Dad. Dad looked for them couldn't find them then when my son thought dad wasn't looking he went to put them someplace else. Dad was peaking around the corner. So funny. I was told about it when I got home from work.

I cringe now every time I do this since I began letterboxing.
