We found our first HH last week. It's quite old and not registered on Atlasquest or LBNA. I was able to contact the owner, who is no longer LBing and (I think) not registered on Atlasquest. She said that there was another site for listing HHers but she couldn't remember it and had no luck googling. Does this ring a bell for anyone? The HHer was launched in 2003.

We'd like to log it somewhere, and I know I can log it here if a premium member, which we might just do. Just started 6 weeks ago, though, so we're still getting our feet wet. What we really want, though, is to be able to track where it goes from here, which logging it as an unlisted find wouldn't help with. Can a hitchhiker be "adopted"? This wouldn't really be an adoption since it's never been on this site. I would ask for permission, of course, but I just wonder if it is done at all or not proper etiquette. It would give the box a tracking future, but its past would still not be documented. So I guess what I'm asking is can it be "planted" even though it is years old, if permission is granted and if it is noted in the description somewhere? Thanks for helping out a newbie!

Don't list it here (or anywhere else for that matter), without the placers express permission, if it can be obtained. If you do list it, ensure that it's identified as an adopted box, and give credit to the placer.

As you said, it is for HH launched prior to 2005, and they refer to AQ for more recent activity. I will contact the owner to see where to go from here.
