Every few weeks someone emails me and comes to Homer Lake to find the boxes that were planted there for Homerdoodle at Homer Lake event. What fun it is to see people still enjoying these boxes!

This past weekend I picked up the boxes that were on the "Frogs are Lucky - They Eat What Bugs Them" series. The service road they were planted on was being widened. Frost and fall have taken the ground cover away leaving some of the boxes in plain view. The West Lake Trail, the Oak Ridge Trail, the Abraham Lincoln Trail, the Timberdoodle Trail, the Flicker Woods Trail boxes and all those boxes planted before the event remain planted and are still available. If you are planning on coming to Homer Lake soon or even this winter, please check with me to see if the boxes are in place.

As we approach summer, the forest preserve will notify me before doing prescribed burns. Once those are completed we will try our best to replace the boxes although the locations may vary.

An FYI to everyone - we do plan to hold another event next year but a date has not been selected.

Good to know...thanks for the update! Looks like we can't get back down before 12/17, and then it all depends on the weather.

Homerdoodle in the Country 2017 has been set for July 15, 2017 at Kennekuk County Park near Danville, IL.

What a great park! We are looking forward to holding this event. Hope you can make it!
