I'm embarrassed to even ask this question since I've been a LBer for so long. However, I've been outa the loop for a few years because school took over my life. Well, I'm joining life again! Soooo....how do I find out about any open PLBs or PLB rings? Or do I just do a search and ask the people to add me to the list?

Heck...are PLBs even a thing anymore?! I just looked through a page of them under a quick simple search, and there were not many active. Of even the active ones, their "last found" dates were forever ago. The latest one I saw, just in quickly glancing through, was 2012. :o/

If you do a tracker search, and choose "newest first", and "only open" trackers, it comes up with a list of current open trackers. Or are you looking for a postal ring?

On your home page activate the tracker widget. You set it for available postal trackers. They will show up as they become available. They often fill up really quickly.

Yes postals have gone through a revival in the last two years. Not sure how you are searching but I probably am signed up for 19 postal trackers. Some are winding down with others starting in the future. Once a tracker is full they are typically listed as closed even though they are active. It means they are closed to sign ups.

Postals are very much active. If you have some old carves you want to send out, just list the tracker and watch it fill up fast - some are completely signed up within hours! There are a lot of newer people who would love to see your carves.

Some things have changed with the last two(?) years. Now that the USPS doen't charge extra for tracking a first class package, the majority of postal participants have gotten away from using postage stamps when mailing, and go to the post office to get their postage sticker and tracking number. The tracking gives peace of mind, knowing that the postal has reached its destination. So, expect envelopes with a lot more stickers to remove and looking for the tabs of the clear tape :)
