We will be visiting Iowa in August 2014!!! We would love to meet up with the letterboxers there in Iowa if we get a chance! I know it's a long way off, but we thought we would let everyone know ahead of time so maybe we can get something together closer to the time.

Of course we're interested, but it sort of depends on which part of the state you'll visit since I live in one of the corners. If you don't want to 'tell the world', AQ me and we'll try to set something up. There's one letterbox in the vicinity ... ahem ... that should be of special interest to you ;~)

We're headed to Ankeny/Des Moines area, but may be taking a trip to Ottumwa and Cedar Falls as well as Washington. We're also going to visit the Amanas.

We'll be there for four days.

I'm just a couple hours north of Des Moines/Ankeny. I'd love to meet some fellow boxers!

Great!! Will drive! I think we have a few hours a day free because my family will be busy with their kids in school. :)

So maybe, since those who have shown interest are coming from opposite directions, we should set up something in the Des Moines area. I've wanted to letterbox there for a long time, but whenever I'm passing through, there's a time crunch or an ice storm or something that kills it. Maybe a Meet 'n Greet 'n Box event?

I just did a Des Moines simple search with a 15 mile radius and found 24 boxes listed, though I didn't check to see whether they are all active. Clicking the map search results at the bottom of the page showed them generally in Urbandale, Clive, and West Des Moines area. Let's try to figure out a restaurant or public place we can meet in that area. Then any who have time to go boxing can team up and go!

Sounds great! It's a plan! I'll be staying in Ankeny, so if the afternoon works for you guys or the evening that would be great! :) I'm sure I can take an hour or so to meet up and then will figure out whether we can go boxing. It depends on what my family is up to. I want to spend time with them as well for sure.

Great! When it gets closer to your trip, post again and we'll make some concrete plans, like day, time, location, etc. As a retired person, I have all day to play.

August Update ~ I've been in contact with KnottyKnitterDirtMonkey and discovered that her trip did not work out as planned and it's not happening.
Since there are three 'agree's on the previous post, is anyone still interested in a boxing day in the Des Moines area?
PM me and when I get some kind of response(s), there may be some kind of get together (or not ~ depending). At the least I will let the interested folks know who each other are so if nothing comes of this, they can at least stay in contact with each other and make their own fun.
