AWESOME!!!

My Kids and I have started taking them off the tops of every pop bottle they find they even talked there grandparents into saving them for you.

Bobbie even said she'd go through her collection of bottles and get her stash together.

There is no age restriction but there is always a fee....based on meals, lodging, and event costs. Usually, you can pick just registration and forgo lodging but meals are nice.

Nic and I were at L&B in Texas when we heard that the next one will be in Michigan.

That was news to me.

If it gets to Michigan, I will gladly assist, whether or not I am living in Michigan in five years. Right now and hopefully still in five years, I have my own personal organizer (and as he said at the airport - Human Valium).

My Kids and I have started taking them off the tops of every pop bottle they find they even talked there grandparents into saving them for you.

Thanks! It's not just bottle caps. Any hard plastic caps and lids. I think recycle #'s 2, 4, 5... water bottles, pop, medicine caps, mayonnaise, condiments, peanut butter, laundry detergent, hair spray, shampoo, cottage cheese, sour cream, etc!

One thing I noticed in my last collection, people were adding the plastic lids from carry out cups. These are not hard enough and not usable. Also, people threw in a bunch of metal tabs from pop/beer cans. Also, not usable for this collection.

I appreciate the help!

it's Going to Cost You a Extra Stamp ( I want to Stamp the TOP Stamp 2x)!.... I want A Bonus stamp because of such Short Notice to save Tops!πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€—πŸ˜‚,and I suppose I should Also Save for the Feb. Event?!

No can do! Same stamp as last time! You're welcome to stamp the stamp a second time! ;)

I haven't decided if I will continue collecting the caps. But, you may as well keep collecting them for February. It's likely that I will do it again.

Just wondering... could the location be dog friendly? If I could bring my camper and my dogs I would love to come.

That’s a good question. I’m not sure if they were or weren’t dog friendly before. It’s hard because you have to pick a venue with lodging, meals, and plenty of trails so it limits the where greatly. That would be something to consider. I know a bunch of people camped nearby the location.

When I collected these for another's campaign I learned after the fact that pill bottles (prescription type) are also accepted. Had I known that I could have added another 10 pounds. Might want to see if they work in your case.

Cool. Well you’re going to have to wait five years for the next L&B, so keep your eyes peeled for it. It’s definitely worth the trip.

If and when the next L&B is in Michigan, it should be on Mackinac Island. And some of the fees should be used to pay for a 4 night stay at the Grand Hotel for the organizers. JUST KIDDING! I mean 5 nights. :)

I'm not sure I'm going to make it to the event :(

I have kids soccer games at 12:30, 12:40, and 6:50. Then I have to sell hot dogs for our scout pack at 2:00-4. and then I have to be in Brighton at 6:15 for a monthly group date night. I'm soooo bummed. will the boxes be left out on Sunday? We have robotics from 1-3, but perhaps Mike can go instead of me and I could get the boxes.
why do people have to schedule ALL the things when I want to letterbox????

It's because you are busy with kids. I can't believe you can even find time to letterbox; I was flying here and there everyday! But even though it's busy, don't wish the years away. Your time will come (as mine has) where letteboxing truly is a hobby you can fit into your life.

I'm sorry I won't be able to say hello to my letterboxing friends at the Birch Run event. Terry and I already had a vacation scheduled and we are in the midst of enjoying that. Have fun, everyone! Box on!

Hey Michigan friends,

My friend TeachJR of Illinois started a virtual event several months ago wanting to get 200 letterboxes planted all over the country to help celebrate the bicentennial of Illinois. I believe there are around 140 boxes planted, but that still leaves 60ish boxes to go. I know that there are 2 boxes already planted in Michigan.

I just thought I'd throw the idea out there to encourage you to help her meet her goal if you have the time and desire. Maybe you have a box already carved that would fit this theme perfectly! Here's the link if you are interested.

https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.php?eventId=4046

And, a completely random tangent: TeachJR and friends throws an amazing event every year in Illinois (always using the word HOMERDOODLE) if you are looking for a great event to attend. Here is the link to this summer's event:

https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.php?eventId=4062

Just my encouragement to my Michigan letterboxing community. Have a blessed Thanksgiving, everyone!

I love Mackinac island but it would be awful for an L&B - not enough room, limited camping, and pricey. Would be a great place for a smaller event though!
