When I was traveling for the 1st three weeks in June, I was able to get this box. The owners have not signed on since April. If anyone knows them it would be great to let them know that this amazing box made BOTW.

Hi to all my letterboxing friends. It is downright shocking to me how much time has passed since I last logged in. It was never my intent to be away for more than an hour (think Pavlov hitting the button for instant gratification) and yet life got in the way. So I am now sitting here at Kobacker Hospice House as my mom's journey is making it's 4th quarter turn and heading Home. This came on in 2 week's time and as my family and I were making a multitude of decisions including bringing her here, I was struck by the fact and comfort knowing a letterbox found a decade ago had brought me to the nature trail in conjunction with this amazing facility. No matter how many finds you acquire, one never forgets where each box is located. Even though starting my business in 2010 has taken me away from our addiction, what you may not know is that I mention my letterboxing friends continuously and have continued to recruit new members including one of my mom's nurses this morning. In my mom's final days, I have been forced like so many before me to take a long, hard, reflective look at my life and have decided I need to get back to one of the best hobbies I've ever had and some of the most amazing friends I've ever had. I've been missing you all along but plan on making concrete adjustments to get back on track. Hugs and love. First thing once things settle down is to get some serious and badly needed box maintenance accomplished. I can't wait to see you all again and meet all the newest members as well!

Sorry to hear about your mother. That’s the best thing about this hobby. You get that good warm feeling of returning home after being away for awhile. Welcome back!

So good to hear from you! I've rarely boxed the last few years, but I've always thought of those met along the way and you particularly. The photo of you and my son Ryan at your military tribute event is a treasured one. Hope to see you soon.

Peace to you and your mom, and welcome back to boxing.

Been there, sadly, done that,

Trailtracker!!!! Oh my goodness, it's so good to hear from you again!! I've wondered about you over the years and hoped everything is okay with you. I had a long period of time without logging on or boxing too, but now that school's over (again), I'm back. I'm sorry to hear about the rough time going on with your mom, but I pray she is peaceful and will make a smooth transition. Thanks for letting us all know you're ok, and can't wait to see your activity here again. :0)

Chiming in too! Life certainly gets in the way of plans. DH and I just returned about 3 hours ago from a long-awaited and overdue cross-country road trip. We are refreshed for the new challenges ahead. We all should get together soon!

Hello my friend!! You have been missed!!! Always remembered and never far from our thoughts.

We all may come and go and stray from this hobby for a bit - but the great people pull you back in :) It's a home away from home of sorts.

Hopefully you will be able to attend some events or plan some mini meet ups so we can catch up. It would be wonderful to see you when things settle for you awhile.

Hugs to you!!

Sits N Knits--thank you for replacing. Life has a way of moving us around and giving us unexpected plans. I haven't been letterboxing in a long while.

The original was in a wooden, fabric covered box that looked like a book. The stamp was the paragraph symbol. I'm grateful you revived it!

Typengrype!

Welcome back to AQ at least. I don’t get to letterbox as often as I would like. I went looking for your box when I was on vacation.
I’m glad you’re ok with the replacement.
I did the Paragraph logo as well.
It’s a great little book store.

Ps, I like that we have the same middle initial. 😉

Happy birthday!!!

We had a great weekend. Spent it doing the State Route 127 garage sales. Found some great bargains

Finished it with ice cream slushies from Sonic to celebrate. Yum!

Put in Bay Island

Hi Ohio Peeps!
I am trying to arrange a family reunion for next summer. One of my cousins wives said she has the fondest memories of one on Put in Bay island when she was a kid. I am starting to look here as this would be sort of middle ground for us.

I have never been there, it looks like a beautiful small island. Is it bikeable? I'd love to bring our bikes to do some exploring and would love others to do the same.

Anyone know if there are resort type of places that could accommodate approximately 50 people?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Vicki

I'm a lurking SE Michigander. I've never been to Put in Bay, but from what I've heard it has a big party reputation.

I mainly wanted to suggest that you give nearby Kelleys Island a look. I went there twice last year. It's very bikeable and is chock full of letterboxes. It also has some neat historical and geological features to explore. No idea about resort facilities, though.

Good luck with your plans!

We went once when I was a kid. We brought our bikes and rented a tandem one for my parents. We biked to a light tower. We were thinking we would go see a lighthouse, but we found a light on top of a metal tower. I still think we didn't go far enough to find the house.
There wasn't a whole lot to do, that or my parents didn't find the fun stuff... It seemed more of a relaxing vacation spot. (we were use to roller coasters and beaches on our vacations)

We took a ferry there and rented golf carts for the day. What a fun place!! I am not sure about accommodations but it was a fun island. Our over night spot was near Cedar Point but did the ferry for the day. (Even the golf carts were named and there were swimming points around the island.)

Cheryl of Team Mad Dawg is celebrating her 14th anniversary on AQ today--by chance we are boxing together this weekend.

We became friends through boxing when she accosted me--err,introduced herself--at a local trailhead 15 years ago, and have boxed together ever since, including 13 Boxing Days (Missed one due to surgery). She is truly one of my closest friends and I treasure our adventures when we are the "Mad Mamas"

Here's to another 15 years of inky fingers and sides sore from laughing!

I couldn't think of anyone else I would want to box with - we're the perfect team! It's always such fun, even in blizzard and monsoon. Mama's been there for me in some dark times and I appreciate her more than she knows. Here's to many, many more adventures together!
