I saw a geocache once waaay up in a tree. It was funny because it was a big shade tree in a clearing, there were no other trees for a ways around it. The trunk was smooth with no hiding spots, so when the coords bring you here you think something's wrong. Then you stare up into the tree, and sure enough there it is in plain sight about 30 feet up. Never gonna happen, of course; these old bones barely made it here from the parking area, sure ain't goin' up that tree!

Tried contacting MJQ years ago about her boxes and never got a reply. Cootie Queen and I spent most of a full day trying to find MJQ Greenville area boxes and had a rather unproductive day. The ones we did find needed maintenance. Most of the others were either not there or in a location we were unwilling to venture.

I don't remember clues not being there. I wonder if someone has adopted her boxes and deleting clues as a way of making the box not available - strange.

Hello -- does anyone know where I can buy SLQ anymore? The etsy store is closed, and Sunny Ding doesn't respond to the email address that I sent Paypal payment to several years ago.

I found this on eBay, but I'm not sure it's the same thing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extra-Large-Colored-Rubber-Stamp-Carving-Blocks-for-DIY-own-stamps-29-x-21cm-/231976657500?var=531170133667&hash=item3602e2e25c:g:agQAAOxywh1TGWTy

Please help me find a dealer - I need my fix!
Thanks -

That reminds me of one that has since been archived. I get to this clearing, and there is no place on the ground to hide an ammo can. I looked up and there it was, hanging from a rope. It was just a matter of following the rope to where it was tied off so that I could lower it to the ground.

I've also found some where I go up in trees. The highest was "An Oberon Challenge". It was placed specifically because I've placed some up in trees, but at most 15 feet up. This one was 35 feet up!

It was placed by the cacher's son, without using a ladder. It took me three tries just to spot it. I'd come prepared, with a 20 foot ladder and a 10 foot pole, making up the difference with my height. I was still just second to find, which I didn't mind because of the difficulty.

I had planned on staying up on the ladder, but I dropped the cache. I signed it on the ground then went back up and put it back. I later used that same ladder to find another of his caches in that same park, but this time there were three of us looking.

Since then, I've used my ladder to place two washers on a cliff face, one north and one west coordinate. There are few finders for that multi-cache.

Since there are few boxers in this area I haven't put any boxes up in trees.

I think that the cake only shows up on the players page for the day of their anniversary. You would need to check the list that might be on your "My Page" collection.

All public boards that you aren't ignoring will show up there.

I thought we select the boards we are interested in.

You're talking about the Favorite Boards widget. That widget will only show your favorite boards. The "Recent Threads" and "Recent Posts" widgets aren't limited to just your favorites.

It is the Japanese Carving Block on page 2 of Carving Material. It is available in beige and yellow. It is my understanding that this is the same stuff we called SLQ.

Oh, I've found a bunch like that! It's actually a fairly common hiding technique. And it's amazing how difficult they can be to find, even if you have an idea what you're looking for. I hunted one that was a mile from the car and in the midst of some really open woods, like none of the trees had any leaves on them, it was all open and grey. Pretty sure we were dealing with a hanging hide, and sure enough we were, but it still took a half hour to find it. And when we did find it, we'd look at it and ask ourselves "Why did it take so long to find that? It's right THERE!" Long, long skinny cord you're more likely to hang yourself on than see.

No, it's not. What stampeaz.com is selling is Japanese, while SLQ is Chinese.

Okay, I thought that what stampeaz had was the same as SLQ. I stand corrected.

However, here is the description from stampeaz on the beige:

This is the firmer of these two Japanese blocks (which are actually made in Vietnam, according to the label).

Well, I'm with you, Paper Trail-I love SLQ and I need a fix, real bad! The stuff I got was from Florida Four, when she did a mass order from Sweetlovequiner(who I hear is not selling any more) and distributed it to people at an event in Florida a few years ago. I sat on the slabs I bought until recently, since I still had some good pink. Now, I really want to get more, but there is no identifying label or markings on my SLQ to track it or compare to other material, unless I get some in my hand to see if it's the same. I really don't know where to go from here, but, I NEED some! LOL-maybe we need a support group....

Now that the dust has settled, I want to give a shout out to ST-Ranger and Knotty Lady for the wonderful Rocket City Rendezvous event they hosted last weekend in Huntsville. They not only planted 80+ traditional boxes, but they wrote the clues to the trail loops so the finders could go clock-wise OR counter-clockwise!! And most of the boxes are permanent plants, thank goodness because I just didn't have the stamina to get all of them that day! Now I have a reason to go back (besides visiting our hosts, of course!). The two of them welcomed many new boxers and first time event attendees with open arms! It was great to see old friends again, as well as meet all the newbies. I got many more exchanges than I usually do at events, so a lot of socializing was done. And what a fantastic surprise to have Autumn Acorns (Knotty Lady's brother and SIL), unbeknownst to our hosts, join us all the way from NY state!!! It was also great to meet our hosts' son and soon to be DIL at the event. And finally, who can forget the cake? Made by Knotty Lady herself... to celebrate ST-Ranger's 60th birthday. Yum! Great weather, great friends (old and new), great carves and boxes, and CAKE. It doesn't get much better than that!!
