I started checking two days ago. But I started worrying when Diane Joy didn't respond to my last email. I hope they're still doing it...

Metallic inks are awful. It is a FAR better idea to stamp with clear ink and then emboss with metallic embossing powder. It's an extra step, but the results are simply spectacular.

Even if they're not (sponsoring it), I'd love to get the information. We would do the challenge anyway if we had the information.

Winter letterboxing
Board: Traditional Letterboxes

For those folks who live in colder areas, what supplies do you bring while letterboxing in the winter?
One thing I'd recommend bringing is replacement LnLs: small round, small rectangular, and large rectangular. It's easy to crack a frozen box when you're prying it out of the ground, and it's not fair to the planter if you don't replace it.
I also carry a trowel, plus a plastic bag to put stuff on when there's snow on the ground.

I just emailed Diane Joy at DEEP. She got back to me immediately! I guess this year's challenge involves photos of historic sites, and she had issues with some of the photo locations. She says it will be posted later today!

If we get a chance at it, we can take it to the box that our gs troop planted last year and stamp in :-)

I carry most of that other stuff, too, but the one that makes the difference around here is to have a couple bottles of water, one in each coat pocket. It's not for me ~ a thin stream of cold water thaws frozen things quickly (like shrimp, for instance) and can usually free a box that's frozen to the ground.

She said she'd be in touch--fairly certain she is. But now we have to go back and revisit whether we can come to an agreement... when she didn't send me the list, I dropped it. I know not everyone wants public boxes...do we think there should be a public series, with an actual link to the DEEP challenge, boxes officially approved and all that, no restrictions, AND a "secret" series, probably with restrictions, only available to those who know how to search?? I am willing to be liaison with DEEP, if I can get enough people to carve and plant a public series...

Sounds like fun theme for me, but I typically don't do LTCs. Hold the spot until tomorrow please. I need to check to see if I still have a stamp I am thinking of re-cycling.
