Welcome. :)

Well, we're here for about one more month, then we're moving cross country. We're across Lake Pontchartrain in Covington.

As far as active boxers in Louisiana, there aren't that many. :(

Godzilla is in New Orleans, but he's not active on the boards. He's planted a lot. BOXDN is another St Tammany parish boxer. There's Mama Cache a bit west of here. I don't think JBanana or Blackberry Patch are on AQ much anymore. Yumgirl moved to Connecticut.

Hi, Cocodrie!

I was once very active, but my life has gotten so busy that letterboxing has taken back seat to many other things. My interest has not waned, though. I only lack opportunity!

I do hope to pick it up soon. Would love to host an event in the Felicianas like I have in the past. Will post here if I do that...welcome.

If you want to travel a little North. We are about 140 miles away. Unfortunately Brookhaven MS doesn't seem to have any other letterboxers except my wife and I.

Brookhaven! That's not too far from the Felicianas in LA.

If I am able to revive my annual event, I will certainly let you all know.

So I'll have a few NO related images that I'd love planted down there. Or at least in LA :) The event I'm putting them out for is at the end of the month - but after that... anyone willing to plant them for me?

I'm carving as fast as I can to remedy the dearth of letterboxes here in N. Louisiana, but the fingers can only fly so fast. If north Louisiana is okay, I'd love to plant them here and around. Message me if you're interested.

Is the event you're going to TALE 13?

So happy to hear that you are working on boxes in north Louisiana. I hope you mean Shreveport/Bossier City area.

Actually, I live in almost exactly in the middle of north Louisiana about 30 miles from the Arkansas border. There are at least 4 of us living in this area, but there are a lot of boxers who pass through on I-20 which goes through Monroe and boxes planted in this area don't lack in finders, surprisingly. I plan to plant from here to Shreveport and a bit south of there, but not as far as Alexandria. There is also a state park, Chemin-a-haut, that I'm going to plant boxes in. At one time, there were 6 boxes there, then, they clear cut the woods and all of them were lost.

Bring some images to plant for us letterbox hungry mongrels here in north Louisiana. I'm looking forward to hunting in Shreveport on my next trip to see the grandangels, especially ones in Greenwood Cemetery. "Despujols" there belongs to my daughter, Jbanana and she's a good carver. If you get a chance, go to Meadows Museum on the Centenary College campus and see his paintings. They're fabulous.

I have found several of Jbanana's boxes. She had a really nice series of movie boxes that I was able to get a few of. I have been to Greenwood. I think a lot of boxes in Shreveport were lost in the recent floods. I will be sure to bring some stamps to plant on our next visit.

I'm afraid a lot of boxes were lost in the flood, too. The river came up onto Clyde Fant Parkway and Sci-port was closed for a few days. Used to be planting on the river front was safe for the boxes, but, now... The Movie Watching Birds, Crazy Cat Lady, and Gnome's Home are gone, now. She moved out of state and took the boxes with her. They are WOM and you can still get them, just not in Shreveport. I'm looking forward to new boxes in Shreveport and will be sure to plant a few there for you to find. Do you know what month you are coming, so I can get them done before you get here?

I just saw this message about whether there were other boxers in Louisiana. Sooo, in north Louisiana, there is Boones Burrow, Cilia-who is brand new-, and me. Jbanana moved to Arkansas, but is still active. And some her stamps are still around here. Then, there's me, Zinni. Took a long leave of absence, but I'm back. Two more grandchildren of mine will be signing up. One is mulling over what to choose as a name. All of us, except Boones Burrow will be at TALE 13.

Anyone else here?

Letterboxes seem to be scarce in north Louisiana, except maybe in Shreveport. I know of three boxers in north Louisiana and we are trying to build up the number of boxes in the area. Are there any other boxers in the area who would like to join in and make that a goal of north Louisiana boxers?

My DIL StarryEyed lives in Shreveport, but she hasn't logged into AQ since 2011. In fact, I had to look at my AQ mail contacts to remember what her trail name was.....

I was wondering about her the other day. We met at Jbanana's event back in...sometime or another. Isn't she Cowboy J and Mouse Man's mom? I took my cousin to Cowboy J's box Quick! Make a Wish a month or so ago. She's a newbie. It's still there, but needs a new box. Bet those boys are grown by now. Jbanana moved to Arkansas, but we will both be at Tale 13 along with grandchildren-mine, not hers. I'm looking forward to seeing you.

For several years, I hosted an event I called TALKK (letters represented different phrases each year).

I've not carved a stamp in a couple of years and would love to get back into carving and letterboxing again, though.

I don't think I'd be free to host an event until this fall, but I'd like to know if those from the northern part of the state would be interested in coming if I did.

In the past, I've held the event in the Jackson/St. Francisville area.

I hope to do extensive box maintenance late this spring and plant a few more that have been sitting here at home.

Thoughts?

Hello, Mama Cache! Jbanana and I came to one of your events and had a good time. Unless something unforeseen comes up, I'd come to the event. Jbanana has moved to Arkansas, so I can't say for her, but I'll ask her. At the moment, there are three boxers that are active. Keep us posted.

I agree with BlueButterfly. There is a small group of letterboxers in the Mandeville, La. to Picayune, Ms. area that would love to put together a meet and greet. Can I get some feedback on those near us that would be interested?

Lots of rain and still falling, Acorns4u! Schools are closed in this parish (county) and several surrounding it. Roads closed all over this parish and the ones around it. We were trying to figure out how to get to church this evening. A couple of roads on our usual route/s are closed. So far we've had 7 inches of rain since yesterday and the weather service is predicting 12. Our house is in a low area and the yard has water standing, but no where near the house. Dogs are evacuated to the porch. At the moment we are dry and not expecting any trouble at our house. The news is showing some residences flooded in other parishes. Prayers for these people would be appreciated. Thanks for thinking about us.
