Board: Personal Travelers
thank you for the quick reply. Just to be sure I understand, they get logged in my regular log book? And speaking of log books, do people usually make one for a specific event? I will be attending my first event in July.

Expect to get a LOT of stamps (event stamps, exchanges, and PTs) at an event. For the first big event I attended, I brought a new logbook (separate from my usual logbook) and filled up about two thirds of it. I brought that same book to the second even...

Yes, I think most people do exchanges in their regular logbook, but some people might have a book just for exchanges. I do have an event logbook that's pretty big. Some event stamps are ginormous and don't fit in my regular book. If I go to a mini...

That is a good idea. I will be on the lookout for a big logbook! thanks!

To get the PT, you have to tell me a limerick, so I thought it would be fun to have people write down their limerick in the logbook when they stamp it. What a fun idea! I love limericks and usually have one in my head. I think having to write them down...

So I would say it's a good idea to bring a special logbook just for the event, because you're likely to run out of room in a partially-used logbook. You either have large events or small logbooks. It will entirely depend on how many people and stamps...

Thank you for your advice. Good idea to see how many people are coming to the event.

I'm a one and done sort of logbook person, I only want one to keep track of! Though my first BIG event is next weekend, so I'm taking my new one with me, as I figure I'll fill up my current one. So, you have options when it comes to logbooks. Whatev...

If you are ever hiking around southern ct (mostly) and you find me, tell me who rules in Castle Whitespire and you'll find what you seek.
Thank you.

No.
A traditional letterbox requires you to find a location. A personal traveler requires you to find a person.

A traditional letterbox requires you to find a location. A personal traveler requires you to find a person. ...At say, an event, or if you ran into them on the trail and they carry it... ...Not say, in a creepy stalker kind of way... ;)

No, not according to the Glossary. http://www.atlasquest.com/about/glossary/t.html#traditional http://www.atlasquest.com/about/glossary/p.html#personaltraveler
Thank you all. I have been out of the game for a little bit and am relearning a few terms. I did not know if, because people sometimes have to solve a clue to get a box, if it also counted as traditional. I appreciate clarification. Happy trails!
How things "count" is your personal decision of how you like to play. AQ will count them separately, but what AQ says my numbers are and what I say differ quite often. Some folks plant temporary boxes at events and list them as event boxes, but if I...

Sounds like Travelers are fun! Question: Do we carve our own and call it a traveler and log it on AQ?

There's lots of help in the help section and the glossary. http://www.atlasquest.com/about/glossary/p.html#personaltraveler. deniserows and forgets how to wiki markup

You don't have to carve your own. One of mine is a store bought stamp given to me that has a great story behind it.

I have been doing traditional letterboxes for a few years now and have just read up on Personal Travelers but I have no idea how it works. Could someone be so kind enough to explain it to me. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, "denvered"

It is an extra stamp you can show off when you meet up with other letterboxers, at events or whatever. Sometimes there is a clue or a riddle.they have to solve, such as "guess the name of my dog" or "tell me about your favorite food". Good ice break...

Sounds like fun. Can't wait to find a traveler. There aren't too many events planned in the west coast (south) anytime soon. So hopefully I will run into some LBs on the trails.

Howdy - when posting my new PT, one of the icons was a brick wall and the label "impersonal traveler" - but it's not in the glossary... can someone explain what an impersonal traveler is? Cheers! Super Hedge Hoggie

It miht have been updated... but when I clicked on the brick wall it led me to this: The impersonal traveler is much like the personal traveler in which it travels from place to place with a letterboxer, but it's often left unattended for other letter...

Hope it's not too tacky to mention our personal traveler in the forum, but it's only around for this first weekend in November 2016. So, if you know any letter boxers who'll be at Faeriecon in Hunt Valley, Maryland, plz let them know that, if they find...
