Pugs enjoys cooler temperatures to sleep in- so fan and AC both still running. So he'll be in a sheet and I'll be under 2 blankets.

Wow, how many people did this resonate with? Our house, for sure.

I think there was a rift in the space-time continuum last night. My trivia game app announced that I was the best in the category I was playing for my state for "October 2014," last night. I was flattered, but maybe it meant nothing, since October 2014 hadn't even started yet!

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you in Greenwood this weekend! Will have to look around the house and see if I can come up with something you can log that you haven't seen before. :-)

I'll be tied up until noon at the Dedication and Blessing of our new dog park in Greenwood. (I'm the chairman...I can't skip it. LOL) But after that I'm happy to be your Phone A Friend for box hints, etc. I would love to see all of you get the awesome set of stamps that are still out there in Sumter Forest from the BBQ last year!

In preparation for the Girl Scout Troop Roundup this weekend, I decided to post all my resources for scout leaders on the Gateway Letterboxers website instead and just give them a small flyer with the URL. The handouts are here http://www.gatewayletterboxers.org/scouts-letterboxing.html if you ever need them for yourself or a leader you know, or even if you just want to proofread them for me. :-)

Stone Mountain Park does require research and foot work before you enter the park... that box that you went looking for was missing but you walk by about 10 boxes to look for it

While that is definitely true, if you are feeling overwhelmed, I would simply recommend you find what seems obvious to you and then at least you can mark some off your list. Even for people who've boxed there many times and have close to half the boxes (me - with family trailname) it is still a bear to tackle and organize clues.

PLUS, by doing so you will start recognizing landmarks and grow familiar with the territory so that other clues begin to make sense.

A unicorn walks into a bar.
The bartender says "Hey! Why the long face?"
And the Unicorn says "Because I'm a unicorn!!!!"

You must mean the 16th and Moraga stairs. You turn east off of 19th on Moraga and dead end there. It's a magnificent site. I've looked for a place to put a box but didn't see the perfect place. I didn't know there was one there.

So far AQ has always been in pacific time for me, but I just looked at the "this day in history" widget and it's already October 1st! Is it just me?

Usually, if you see a time that isn't correct on AQ, it's because the time is incorrect on your computer. That's what AQ uses to display information there since the date changes at different times for different people depending on their timezone.

So I'd double-check the time on your computer. It might be wrong.

Well yes and no. :-) That picture is my first baby, who will be turning 13 this month. <sniff> He was my intrepid companion during a LOT of boxing in Rochester, NY and Canada. But when we moved to Cincinnati I was pregnant with #3 and verrrrry tired and then got discouraged when a couple boxes got stolen/vandalized right away. And then #4 joined us. But she is 18 months now and better able to tolerate car rides and tramping around in parks and cemetaries and the like, and I just had my spark re-lit I guess. So now it's me and the four kiddos, 13, 9, 6 and 18 months, happy to be back in the letterboxing world.

I QUICKLY reviewed the materials and will spend more time later... Please note The interest patches are no longer available from GSUSA. The only GSUSA badge is the Brownie badge and the Juniors have a Geocashing badge.

PLEASE STRONGLY encourage troops if they wish to leave their letterbox for others to find that they are sure it is in a weather proof container and it is maintained and the clues are good as well as the site. I have heard from several fellow letterboxers that Girl Scouts do not maintain their boxes, and it leaves a poor impression of the Girl Scout boxes.

Actually, 30 was about my favorite birthday

Same here!! My 25th year was a pretty good one too, did lots of things I really enjoyed that year 'just because' and that's a great thing to be able to look back on. But turning 30 was really the best birthday so far. it was and exciting time in my life. We'll see what next year brings when 40 rolls around. I'm looking forward to it :D
