It blew up the night he made it. He put it in the 5 gal carboy instead of the 6 gal pail, and when it started to expand it popped the stopper right off. The man cave smelled like red ale for weeks. He still has a Porter kit to use. I bought it for...

Oh, that would do it. A 5-gal carboy is perfect for secondary and tertiary fermentation, but not for primary :) One thing that he could have done, and can do in the future if it happens again (some brews have strong fermentations), is to put a sanitiz...

August camping event in Maine Sorry, we don't camp. We are too freakin old for that. Soft cushy beds, heat or A/C, Denny's next door. That's roughing it for us. We like to travel around Halloween (our anniversary) and Maine is near the top of our list...

I also saw Mud's cranberry preserves posted a couple weeks ago which sounds so yummy. I tried finding that, sounds awesome. Couldn't find it though. Can you direct me to that?

Hubby made apple cider one time and it was lethal. Best to age for at least one year and then WATCH OUT, it was curtains for me, shower curtains, lol.

Last year for spring break, my two best friends and I traveled a crossed country by Amtrak Train to the state of Oregon. We rented a car and off we went to explore our new state. When we arrived in Eugene, OR we had already seen so much... Mt Hood, An...

You convinced me! I've been looking at the Fat Tire displays for several months and have yet to try it and several others that look promising. Next time I'm at the package store, Fat Tire will accompany me home.
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
Today I went to Kroger to go grocery shopping and low and behold they had Fat Tire Beer on display!!! Fat Tire had more types of beer for you to try as well. So I grabbed their Snapshot Wheat Beer. Not much of a wheat beer fan but I liked this beer a l...

Fat Tire knocks me off the wagon for sure!!! ;)
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
Actually, it would be New Belgium that had more types to try. Very good beers, 1554 is one of Schizokeet's favorites. Looking forward to visiting that brewery while in Colorado in June.

I just went to the bottle bar today and picked up some, "Sweet Baby Jesus" beer that is supposed to taste like peanut butter and chocolate. You can definitely smell the two flavors but they aren't too strong to the taste. We also got another beer by...

My little town got a new pizza place recently that is making their own brew. Was so stoked to find out that they fill growlers!! I got my husband a couple for Christmas with no real reason but maybe home brewing. Yay!!

"Sweet Baby Jesus" beer that is supposed to taste like peanut butter and chocolate Sign me up!!! I love chocolate beer, throw in some peanut butter and it must taste like heaven!
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
Peanut butter and chocolate beer MUST taste better than it sounds. I can't quite imagine it, but it must be good. I'll have to try to find some around here. And I'm a coconut junkie - I want that one too!

Estella Naparella had a great idea for a series: The Oldest Bar in every state! I've set up a tracker and would love to have you join me! Cheers
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
How close do you want it hidden to the bar/tavern? what are you hoping to have carved for the stamp? Unless someone else claims it, I'll hide "the oldest bar in the whole freaking country"
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
I will leave the carve and placement up to each planter. Some bars might agree to have an indoor box .... Some boxes would survive longer if the bar was the starting point and the box was placed outside ... I might do both :)
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
Yahoo just posted the list of names! https://www.yahoo.com/travel/the-oldest-bar-in-every-state-in-america-98176755662.html If someone can carve for me, I'd be happy to plant the FL one, it's just down the street. I can also do the Savannah, GA one if...

I signed up for NV but For some reason I do not see my name on the list. Thanks
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
I signed up for Washington. I think Dartmoor Dreamer (admin) will add the names as people send her a message with the state and bar name.
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
Posted this on a beer only board but felt the milkshake crowd should hear too (not sure what beer and milkshakes have in common?!?!?) LOL Actively returning to another hobby I enjoy...making beer! Raspberry hefeweizen cooking currently - yummy! 😁
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
I love brew days! Smells sooo good!
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
Absolutely!!! I added a kick of honey to this batch, so smells extra yummy...but, ummm...the original gravity is 1.075. 😁👍
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
I'd love some, thanks!
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes
I'm all about the Heff but did you have to ruin it with raspberries?!? Hahaha
