Sounds like a Ponzi Scheme for you since you start the giving and get the best gift.

so, if you find it as an event box you have to find it again as a traditional. or just mark that you found it twice.

If someone's going to log any traditional, then they have to head out and follow the clues. Just having the stamp image because they found it in another form isn't enough.

Tabletop boxes aren't planted. She meant no recording finds on traditional boxes that other people send to you but you plant. It would be pretty easy to find a box if you planted it! :)

I meant recording traditional finds on plants that people had, say, in Maine, and then they send to New York to be replanted anew. If you're taking planting credit, don't also log finds on the now-retired series in the former location, just because they arrived in your mailbox.

I don't know... a part of me agrees with this statment based on the sound of the tracker... However, "value" or "percieved value" is all in the eyes of the beholder. For example, it I take the paperclip and replace it with a rubber band.... Say especially a silly band.... or a broken golf tee. Perhaps along the way the "gift" is a toy car and I throw in an baseball card. I may think the card is valuable... the next person may hate baseball cards and feel cheated... or it might be the last card you need to complete your favorite team. Not knowing how the next person may value the particular item you are leaving in there. Without a price guide so to speak percieved value is based on the desires and needs of the person opening the envelope and making a judgement call. Perhaps you throw in something that locally you bought for $2, but locally to me I can find the item for only $1. I throw something in that cost me $1.50, and it looks like a trade up to me, but on an economic equivalant of the theory of reletivity you would observe that to be the reverse, a loss of value to the parcel.

I won't be signing up for this personally, but I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall at each stop of the postal as I think this is acctually a very interesting sociological experiment, and would love to see it's progression.

I hope it's pregress gets reported. It would be enjoyable to be able to observe.

Or may beyond start the envalope with 3 stamps. Every one carves 1-3 stamp. You take 1-3 and leave 1-3 yours in there. Send it on to the next person then the tracker owner gets 3 differen stamps and everyone has a new stamp to plant for someone else. You and the planter and the other person as the carver. I may have to run with this and set up a tracker in the near future..... Just saying

A downed airplane being used for a civil air patrol exercise...

"Is this your plane?"

"Why, yes it is."

Yes, I well remember standing beside the "wreckage" watching the convoy barrel down the little dirt road, and then all the guys in fatigues jumping out & running toward us....and thinking "oh no, what in the world have we gotten ourselves in the middle of????" :)

To me there is a difference between an "event box" and a traditional box planted for an event.
At the event, are you going to have clues to find it? Afterwards, are you going to leave it in the same place & just post the clues? If that's the case, I'd say that is a traditional box--you could just go ahead & create the listing as such.

Brandon and I are super pumped for the event that we decided to watch the movie Clue, which apparently I found out that they are working on making a new Clue movie, supposedly it is to be released sometime in 2013. Anyone else been having the urge to play the board game Clue to get prepared for the event?

It was the hostess in the kitchen with the toaster!

Thought about perhaps a Friday night pre-gathering, but realistically not sure how much time I will have the night b/f, but it entered my mind to do something. Thinking most of the out of area boxers will not arrive in the area until the morning of, so moving it another night could work. Although, after reading some of the comments posted on the boards, I am not sure getting opposing team members together is a good idea! :-)
Acid Free Paper question...

I found what could be some great logbooks. Unfortunately, they don't say "acid free." Does anyone know just how 'bad' it would be to use paper that may have acid in it? If it damages the stamp impression...just how long are we talking about..1 year? 10 years? What are the other negatives if any? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You may be right about not getting opposing team members together, there has been a lot of trash talk, which I think has been a lot of fun and is getting everyone excited for the event. Thanks so much for putting this event together, I know it took a lot of effort! I'm anxious to figure out who the real killer of Lady Nicole Plating is.
