Did you enjoy being a dog in your dream?

When I was about 2 I had night terrors.
Later they were just severe memorable nightmares.
I still remember the nightmares of my childhood:
-- my brother's death
-- ant's eating my flesh
-- spears plunged into stranger's eyes
-- aliens that desolved the flesh off of my family members and then coming for me
-- my dog starving and rotting because I could not get into his cage

But at some point, I finally learned to control them. Initially, I was able to introduce a person that swept the entire scene in my head down a trap door. Later, I expanded it to always being conscious that it was a dream and then deliberately changing the outcomes.

Since then, I've always been aware when I dream that it is a dream. I can just watch it or change it.

Do other people do that?

I've never had night terrors like that, but I have been able to be aware that I am dreaming or even change the outcome. But when I do have nightmares they can be really bad, and when I wake myself up I must keep myself awake for a period of time or I will just go right back into the nightmare.

The only one I couldn't change the outcome on was a recurring nightmare from the time my first child was born until the last one went to school. I could cut it off and block it, but I couldn't change it.

It was always the same:
I was in a Nazi concentration camp with my 3 sons under the age of 4 (3, 1, and infant). I would give the 3yr old to my husband to take a different route out. I would take the other 2 with me. Since they were babies, I could not keep them quiet so I knew we would be discovered and be killed. I prayed that my husband could at least get out with the 3yr old. I knew I'd never see them again and I'd have to watch my babies die with me. I'd try to create a safe route, but it never worked. I'd have to force it to stop before the babies were killed.

Boy, I've turned this into a rather dark subject! But I don't have this dream anymore. Perhaps other people have had a repetitive dream?

I don't have a repetitive dream but I do have a repetitive dream element...I dream about Godzilla.

I am a fan of Godzilla but I dream about him leveling the nearby village, trying to level my home, I see him sometimes in the horizon approaching. Sometimes he is disguised by the shape of trees...

But I have discovered that I only dream of Godzilla when I'm under stress. When I feel that I have too much to do and not enough time to do it...when work is getting out of control...when I feel that my opinion is not acknowledged.. when an impending event is close at hand and I'm nervous about it. Godzilla is that STRESS that becomes monstrous, too big to contain, a destroyer.

Unforturnately, it's the only real thing I've discovered about my dreams but the subject is fascinating to me.

Cool board!

I rarely remember my dreams but when I do they stay with me!

When I'm having money issues or feel out of control of things like that, I dream of tornados coming. I usually have my dogs and go from house to house with wind and debris whipping at us while we beg for shelter but no one will let us in because they won't let dogs in their houses. I'm always just barely ahead of the tornado.

The other is someone chasing me through a big house with many, many rooms. There always seems to be another door to slip through before I'm found. Sometimes the rooms I end up in are enormous (like big dusty attics) and sometimes they're tiny closets but there always seems to be another door on another side to flee through.

I would just as soon never have either dream again.

Yes, I have had the same dream several times.

I dreamt that responsibility for a website I was a member of was suddenly dumped into my lap while the "owner" went on a walk. The problem was, it turned out to be a REALLY long walk, and there were all these CRAZY people on this website! And I mean, these people were LOCO... they would talk about trading rubber stuff and getting all inky and "exchanging".... brrrrrr, I shudder just THINKING about it!

Anyway, I have had that same nightmare a bunch of times now, at LEAST 3 or 4... will it never end?

I have tornado dreams too. Not certain if it has to do with money and it's been awhile since I had one, but in my dreams I usually was driving and see a tornado approaching. The last one, after noticing the tornado while driving north on I-75, somehow the local airport (Bishop) had an underground parking garage connected to I-75. In my arms is a baby (I have no kids) and we are running in this door connected to I-75. Inside there are lots of wires and they are giving off sparks. I am running by the wires, trying to find safety while clutching the baby trying to protect him or her. That is where the dream ends.

One of the earliest dreams I remember from my childhood (I was about 5) involves me getting chased by two Tex Avery style cartoon wolves while visiting my aunt. In the dream, I am running from room to room, climbing over furniture trying to escape these cartoon wolves that want to kiss me.

Hope you don't have any of those nightmares again.

Just don't pinch yourself.

And it could be worse-- you could have dreamed that the "owner" that went on a really long walk was naked while he was walking on a Hike Naked day. *shudder*

When I was under stress, I used to dream about a one eyed owl . The first time I dreamed I walked into our kitchen and something was sitting on the windowsill outside, so I shooed it away. As it flew off, I realized it was an owl, so I rushed to the window to watch it. I t landed on a branch and then turned back to stare at me, and that's when I saw it had one eye (like a cyclops, not that it had lost an eye). When ever I dreamt about it, it was always staring at me with that one eye.

When I was younger I used to have the same dream about my mom getting killed.
She was driving the car and I was in the passenger seat. We pulled up to a red light at an intersection and this big guy with a gun came up to the driver side door and pulled her out. She tried to fight him off and he shot her. That's when I would wake up every time.

Last night I dreamed I was caught up in a big debate about whether East Coast or West Coast letterboxers were better swordfighters. Personally, I was voting for the West Coast, since Padawan and SHH are both Jedi and all. :)

I'm with you all the way on that one, plus they really are awesome carvers! But in all honesty I really think it's pretty even fight on both sides (if you ban light sabers before battle)

North Carolina having a resident Sith should even things out a bit. 8))

My friends said that when she was younger she had a dream about a dino eating her. The the next night the same dream... She said that her, and her parents came up with a way to change it. She said that the next time she had the dream she was sitting in the hand of the dino when it was about to eat her and she hugged it's thumb and said "I love you." it was all fine after that.

Well, other than no more letterboxes...

I was planting a letterbox at a very open campground with no trees, just giant leafy bushes. Another letterboxer was there. I won't mention who, unless she is okay with that. It is someone I've met. There was a group of people who were unknown to me sitting around a campfire in the middle of the day. There were no tents.
The situation was bad. A guy was mad at his ex-girlfriend. He had a gun and everyone was a hostage. I got the sense that the guy would stop if someone talked to him. I said that this is crazy; Don't do this. I didn't think he would do anything crazy. Anyway, he walked a it away on the other side of the bushes to check and see if anyone was coming. I don't know why I or nobody else ran at that second. We all thought nothing bad would happen. That might be the reason. Instead, I got up and ran over to the bush I was hoping to plant this letterbox in my hands. Throwing it in, I realized it was too exposed. Thus, it was fished out. Ran back to my seat on the ground next to the letterboxer.
The guy returned about a minute later. He walked over to me and said, "You didn't listen."
Bang. I could feel it go into my head. It didn't hurt. My mind asked, "Am I dead?" No. Fight. Fight. Fight. Somehow my arm was holding onto the letterboxer's chair. Inside, I was saying, let her know I am going to be okay. (with the constant chant of Fight. Fight. Fight. So I would not die) I was trying to say something. She was sadly looking down at me. My mind asked, "How did I get here?" That's when it hit me. It's a dream. I woke up then.

I had a dream that my mom was showing me this weird, new outside resturaunt that opened up near where I live. It was all outside and on the side of a hill. A labyrinth of stone steps led to private dining areas under trees and near streams. My mom was taking my dad and my boyfriend and while we were eating mom asked me if this would be a great place for an LB. I was going to say yes when all these Froud-type fairies appeared, started opened up the honey jars and then throwing the honey at all of us.

I didn't answer my mother but I think I will decide, No. Honey throwing fairies may be dangeous to people seeking letterboxes.
