Maybe we could do Manito Park? I know it's a busy place, but if the boxes are just temporary, it could be fun! It would be nice to visit a new place! :)

Or maybe the city beach park at C'dA or Riverfront/Huntington Park!

Where is Huntington Park? Manito isn't a bad idea. Folks would just have to be super stealthy and boxes could only be planted for that day. It is hard to plant there as they keep everything so well manicured. Finch wouldn't be bad either, but there are so many boxes there already, it would be tough to find a clear spot.

Huntington is the Riverfront Park addition, just west of Post Street and below City Hall.

Riverfront / Huntington / Downtown would be fun... Maybe a Spokane based theme... Bloomsday, the carousel, the Davenport... The ideas are percolating!

Yes! Local history could be included, too! I'd love to replace my Great Fire box sometime... and I just love hearing about the history of the area! There's EXPO, the Flour Mill, Riverfront, Carousel, The various memorials and the art walk, just to name a few! I love the idea!!

I am still around and trying to box and carve more. I vote for Palisades for a gathering. I prefer places to letterbox where there are less numbers of Muggles. I am disappointed in how many of my boxes are gone.

PS Has anyone gone to get my "You Gotta Hand It To The Whales"? I usually list on letterboxing.org first because I like the feature where you can scan by 'date planted' but not too many people post there.

I haven't seen that one yet Stormcrow... I will have to look it up.

You can also see the boxes listed in planting order on Atlasquest as well. Just click the column marked "Launched" on the search list and it will place them in order.

Fishtrap Lake Area Update (after last years fire)
Board: Spokane Chitchat

Thread Board (disabled)
I have been out to Fishtrap lake area where the fun 'Stalking Series' got started. Some of them were missing before the fire and the rest were lost except for the following ones:

"KB Tracks Down Stormcrow"- This one had a melted corner on the box so I replaced it just this morning! Sadly, my "Off The Beaten Path in Eastern Washington" that started the whole thing is completely gone. Where that HUGE stump was is now just a big black hole in the ground.

"KB Stacks Rocks" is ok as is "Find My Way"

Lost are "KB Solves Loc Ness Monster", "Be Careful Where You Reach", " Fat Lady Stalks KB Tracking Stormcrow", "The Turtle Squad Spies..." and Yogi Scouts Fat Lady...."

I am not sure about EM and Cougs box in the series but I am pretty sure that area all burned too. Snowfire had looked for that one last year and she is a good tracker but didn't find it before the fire.

Regards,
Stormy

PS Please adjust your status for these boxes if you are the owner!

I would highly recommend Riverside State Park to camp Baqash. There are several good boxes there and awesome trails. There are some boxes at Liberty Lake, but many of them are missing with no update in atlasquest.

SN Bone and I are planning a 3 day camping/boxing trip to Spokane Mother's Day weekend. We will be at Riverside Bowl and Pitcher (only thing open before 5/15 and affordable with my discount). Maybe we can do a mini-meet with local boxers while we there. Arriving pm 5/8 leaving am 5/ 11.

Update on Letterboxes in the Fishtrap area after the fire

So I have scouted out in the Scroggie Road area (East of Sprague Lake) and the only boxes to survive were KB Stalking Stormcrow and Find My Way (by Merry Wanderers now managed by me). However, this BLM land is not as well managed ie they don't cut down the weeds on the trails any more even though some of the brown trail markers are still in place. Also, a major issue is that the gate is very difficult to get through because there is another one that is locked with a chain and lock. I was able to (barely) squeeze through by releasing the top loop of wire even though the lock and chain remained in place. So apparently BLM doesn't want people in there any longer. I took my bike and had fun herding cattle and saw some birds but that was about it. In the spring the ticks would be horrible with the uncut weeds and the fall will still have hunters (I think).

Im in Moses Lake and love to find boxes in the area (I think I've found a few of yours perhaps). I don't get to Spokane super often, but when I do, I usually try to find a box or two. Glad to hear you're going to be back in action.
