You don't have to carve your own. One of mine is a store bought stamp given to me that has a great story behind it.

I have been doing traditional letterboxes for a few years now and have just read up on Personal Travelers but I have no idea how it works. Could someone be so kind enough to explain it to me. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, "denvered"

It is an extra stamp you can show off when you meet up with other letterboxers, at events or whatever. Sometimes there is a clue or a riddle.they have to solve, such as "guess the name of my dog" or "tell me about your favorite food". Good ice breakers for events. So you can stamp them into people's logbooks. Some people have several personal travellers or special ones for different occasions.

Then there's people like me who just let people stamp my personal travelers if they ask for them. I'd rather spend the time chatting and get to know you.

Sounds like fun. Can't wait to find a traveler. There aren't too many events planned in the west coast (south) anytime soon. So hopefully I will run into some LBs on the trails.

What's an "impersonal" personal traveler?

Howdy - when posting my new PT, one of the icons was a brick wall and the label "impersonal traveler" - but it's not in the glossary... can someone explain what an impersonal traveler is?

Cheers!

It miht have been updated... but when I clicked on the brick wall it led me to this:

The impersonal traveler is much like the personal traveler in which it travels from place to place with a letterboxer, but it's often left unattended for other letterboxers to acquire such as at a campsite or on their vehicle.

Hope it's not too tacky to mention our personal traveler in the forum, but it's only around for this first weekend in November 2016. So, if you know any letter boxers who'll be at Faeriecon in Hunt Valley, Maryland, plz let them know that, if they find the Mad Hatter and Sock Faerie (who are sometimes disguised as humans), we'll share our limited edition stamp :-)

I've just started and I have a book for almost everything that's out there!!! Sooo, I'm lugging around a lot of books...

I've been making log books for my new plants and it has been interesting... I then had to find Tupperware to fit them...lol

Learning how to make the fold over velcro flap pouch covered in duct tape.... fun. But I really like to Tupperware idea- I literally go out and find real Tupperware!!!

OK, I haven't been to an event for a while, so perhaps things have changed or I am not remembering correctly.

Logbook with PT - right?

I got to thinking about this while prepping a new PT. Perhaps no logbook for the sake of the chaos-ness of an event. Here's my thinking: if I am getting an exchange with that boxer anyway, or have exchanged with them, and the PT doesn't count toward the traditional F-count, does there need to be a logbook? Can logging it on AQ be enough?

I have mixed feelings about traditional boxes without logbooks, but what are your thoughts?

I, personally do not use logbooks with my PTs nor have I encountered a logbook with a PT in my particular area. Just sharing my preference and my experience. I don't think there's a yes/no rule either way. :)

None of my PTs have logbooks and I don’t recall anyone else having one, but I may be wrong. I also don’t always know where my PTs are.

If it's an "impersonal traveler" that comes with your stuff to an event but doesn't stay on your person, you may want to provide a logbook, since otherwise you won't necessarily know who found it. Or you could just stick a "please log the find online" note in with it.

I have just learned of this 'impersonal' traveler. They kind of sound like an event or table box. The reminder to log online is good advice.

Thanks for replying,
SHH :)

I think that's what they mean. Just a tabletop/event box.

I’m referring to the “impersonal traveler” attribute you can put on a personal traveler. The icon for it looks like a brick wall (which is admittedly confusing since one of the attempt icons is also that).

https://www.atlasquest.com/about/wiki/question.php?wikiId=302

Granted, one will probably find these mostly at events, but there’s nothing that says it has to be inextricably associated with events (as event boxes are).

Some of my PT's have logbooks, some don't.
Some have rules, some you just ask for.

On April 15th I listed a new PT. It isn't showing up on any of the events I'm signed up for. Is this a bug or do I need to list it myself?

I am new to PTs but I think that you have to register it with the event. There is usually a button to take you to the registration. Just registered my first PT for my first Event.

In the past PTs always showed up automatically when a person signed up for an event.

Has this changed?

Sorry, not sure if the event I am attending is different in that it has a request to post the PTs, or if most events just post them automatically to the event.
