Lost my signature stamp :(

Well, only a month into this new hobby, I lost my signature stamp. It must have fallen out of my pocket while pulling my phone out to look at clues.

If anyone happens to go to Valley Forge NHP and you find a 1” - 1 1/2” pink stuff snowshoe stamp (labeled with my trail name) I would love to be reunited with it! I still have my stamp template — I’ll be carving a new one ASAP so I can go Letterboxing next weekend, but my original already has so much sentimental value to me.

I know it’s a huge park, but I know magic can sometimes happen and I really appreciate anyone keeping an eye out!

Good luck finding your sig! I lost mine once for a couple of hours at an event in Texas. It turned up in a box with about a 100 carves used for Texas Bingo. My apologies to anyone who didn't win at Bingo that night because you stamped your card with my sig.

I hope it turns up! This brings back memories since the same thing happened to me once. I'd recently changed my trail name, and carved a new stamp with my location as part of the stamp. I lost it the very first weekend using it, and had a good idea right where it was -- near the box we'd found. But I was boxing with someone else, and it was far enough away that it wasn't convenient to go back. I messaged some boxers I thought might be visiting that box within the next few days (it was a new plant), and one of them found it right away. I carved a temporary stamp to use in the meantime, without the location. When I got my original stamp back, a critter had nibbled all the edges! So now, probably 10 years later, I'm still using that "temporary" stamp. LOL Hopefully your story will have a different ending!

I lost my first signature stamp also. Bought another different one. Wore it out after years of use, but found the original stamp on ebay. ( Obviously both were store bought .)

I am curious if people in PA actually get permits for letterboxes.

Here in NC, it costs $120 a year for for a permit! I just avoid boxing in NPs. 🤪

That is great news. We need more open spaces that will not be developed, but that all of us can enjoy.

After 6 years of living out in California, I'm back! I'll be mostly traveling for the next couple of months, then moving to a new place in Philly shortly after.

Looking forward to boxing with y'all again! I have a big box of stamps already waiting to be planted!

Happy trails,

It’s funny you should post now. The cover article on the February issue of National Geographic is all about origami.

WW,

Are you in need of stamps to plant?😜

I would be favorably inclined to collaborate, if you are likewise inclined.

A big shout-out to Lotus, leafcutters, and scullykitten for hosting a fabulous event this weekend! Thank you for all of your hard work! While the weather wasn't the best, the company and stamps more than made up for it!

Thank you all for coming! The weather was definitely not on our side this year, although we did escape the rain. Thank you to my mom and the Legend of the Broom :) I have to rethink having a July event, its just too darn hot! This year's event was sad for me, I heard some unexpected news about my grandmom passing. So I was a bit off all day, but thank you to good friends and new friends. You make letterboxing a joy :) thank you all!!

PA park question

Over the years, there have been a lot of letterbox gatherings in PA. I wondered if anyone ever held an event in Hugh Moore Park in Easton, PA? I visited this state park on my way home from L&B. It looks like it would be a great place for a gathering (off season). The park is 520 acres on the Lehigh River and Lehigh Canal. There is a picnic pavilion and bath rooms.

Just a thought for the PA boxers & event planners.

Some ancient history (like before my time and two source hearsay) here. At one time in around 2002 or so, there was a gathering in Easton, PA. Mapsurfer and Wanda & Pete had both mentioned attending the event (yes, over beers, sorry about the archaic namedrop). For some reason, I think they had the event probably at the park where the Lehigh River and the Delaware come together. So, it seems that the Perfect Circle Letterboxing Guild (out of NJ) hosted a Summit in Easton:

Here are some photos:

If you look closely at the photo with the Brown sign, it says something about Lock 24. This is in Delaware Canal State Park in Easton, a couple miles to the east of Hugh Moore.

Letterbox Clues

Greetings! I am hawkeye from the great state of Georgia. I have the privilege of visiting my kids in Hershey a couple of times a year. I have been planting on every trip but can find very few boxes to hunt. Misty are old or unfindable. I have heard a rumor that a person has to ask for clues for said boxes. I don’t even know where to start or who to ask. I am a competent boxer with over 6000 finds and a couple of hundred plants. I would love to seek boxes in the area. Could anyone please help??

Thanks in advance.

While I cannot comment regarding needing to request clues (most do not play that way), if you search on Lebanon County, you will see some that I planted while my son was at college nearby. You will need to use a little grey matter, but here are one set of clues:

https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.php?boxId=279174

Many of the Hershey boxes seem to be retired (former events) or the letterboxers that were simply are not. Ralph Spoilsport is still very active and always helpful.
