North Carolina did a great job hosting this wonderful event!!!! It takes a ton of prep, and also hard work during, and you all were awesome!!! I am worn out, and sad to be back in the real world today. Can't wait for the next one.....crickets and all.

I was the one who found your sig stamp and handed it over to SHH to return to you! Glad it made it back into your hands. I would have been devastated to lose my sig stamp.

Such a great event.

Retiring a 15+yr old box with my 85 yr old grandma

I just wanted to share a little heart-warming story...

Back in 2008, to share my letterboxing hobby with my family, I put together a box called "Grandma's Flowers" for my grandmother, who would have been 70 at the time. We went and planted it together in Waxhaw, NC at Cane Creek Park. It was a fun little thing just to spend some time with her. Little did I know what the future plans for this box was, or even how long it would last.

Fast forward 15+ years. She turned 85 on January 18th, so for her birthday, we drove to Cane Creek to get the box and retire it, basically as a birthday gift. After searching for a while, considering the clues had changed over the years, we found it! I let her open it up (we both barely remember what it even looked like, or what we put in it)... and SHE WAS BLOWN AWAY! She absolutely loved all of the stamps (even the damp, blurry ones), all the messages, and realizing that people all over the country had stopped by to find her box.

She put the whole letterbox, dirt included, in a ziploc baggie and couldn't wait to take it to church to show her friends. LOL

The box is now successfully retired and we got some pretty cool memories from it. Thanks everyone that stopped by and logged into "Grandma's Flowers".

I looked up your box and I was 1st finder at age 54, I'm 70 now and I'm still LBing. Due to health issues I no longer can hike but still love being part of lbing.
I remember your box and the park, it was a great weekend of boxing. Thank you for planting and the great memories of days gone by.

Who's ready for PAL Day, North Carolina?

I know that our numbers have been down the past few years and I know that I have not contributed much. But this year, PAL Day is on a Friday and anything you plant on Thursday, Friday or Saturday counts as long as you make the plant date 5/24/24!

I've got a bunch of boxes to plant, so I'm saving up for that Saturday. Because there's a max of 20 per individual.

Who's with me this year?

Hey! I was actually just wondering about this. I have 11 stamps ready to go, but I'm from IL. The entire 'three' days of PAL I will be in North Carolina though. So if I planted some in NC, the count would go towards NC, is that right?

Bad news! I'm going to be in Maryland from the 20th to the 28th. Last year I did my part for NC so you'll have pull it out for us this year! You can do it! I didn't know there was a 20 box limit. Will keep that in mind for next year!
