When are you going? I love Rehoboth Beach, DE. Nice beaches, relaxed and friendly people, shopping, easy to walk around town, bike trails, and a few letterboxes here and there.

1) It's FLAT like FL!
2) my boxes could use maintenance ??
3) Rehoboth Beach - home to the letterboxing pub crawl - with some few boxes remaining

Letterboxing in Delaware?

I am heading from Philadelphia to Delaware this week and have never boxed there. Can anyone recommend a good place to start? A specific box or general location would help.... :)

Delaware is so small that you could throw a rock and find a letterbox. ;-)

Where are you going in DE? There are only the three counties: New Castle, Kent, and Sussex. I vacation every year in Sussex - lots of good beach boxes, and even some inland ones, around there, and some good old ones on LbNA that are fun to seek.

I'm not heading anywhere specifically. Just wanted to head to a new place to box. DE isn't far, and for some reason I haven't gotten any boxes there yet so I thought I'd cross it off my list of states that I don't have any finds in.

Depends on where / how far you want to go. Down by the beaches my favs are by paper trail, shorty and Blue Delft there are some classic boxes based on previous events in the area. Look head classics by sewsewbizzy / redhatboxers.
Closer to home.... Wilmington and Newark there are so many nice boxes. I am always excited to see any boxes from Sheba, the Queen of Delaware letterboxing.
Lisa.

It's April--go to the Valley Garden. If you do a search for "Greenville DE," 5 of the first 6 boxes listed are there. (One of Dancing Bat's Grateful Dead boxes might still exist too; I'll message you.) Beautiful location, variety of planters.
Powderfinger is worth a special trip. It was planted by hexacat, who did some really awesome boxes. Plus it's at the Hagley Museum, where the DuPont company started. So there's a fee but you get to tour the mansion & the company's original offices, see how the workers lived & exhibits on how they made gunpowder.
Alapocas Woods has FishMan's Cliffhanger series & several fun boxes by geckospot. And maybe something older. ;)
Brandywine Creek State Park is a fertile spot too. 3 or 4 good planters there.... :)

In the Newark area I'd recommend Year of the Rat. It's not actually in NCC, but near enough as makes no difference. :)
There are a bunch of boxes at Iron Hill, and some at Middle Run.... if you go to Middle Run, try to bring a trail map with you, as the one at the kiosk at the parking lot is a bit hard to read.

Sending a note to Sheba and Psychiker would probably be a good place to start. They are both active boxers in the area you are looking at.

Stamp-a-Day

While not an official letterboxing event, I thought those local to Delaware might like a stamp-filled night out.
The Delaware Contemporary (200 S. Madison St., Wilmington, DE) is hosting Delaware Fun-a-Day Oct. 6-8. 180 artists are hard at work making all kinds of projects, one day at a time for the show. For my part, I am carving a Stamp-a-Day and will have all 30 stamps, ink and paper to make impressions at the show. I'll be there for the reception on Friday night. Anyone who comes, finds me, and mentions letterboxing can exchange signature stamps with me, too.
For more information, visit http://www.delawarefunaday.com .
Moderators, sorry for the double-post!
