Hi!
I'm new to letterboxing, but already hooked! I've placed two so far... one in Brisbane and one in Toowoomba, and I'll be placing more soon. My letterboxes are also accessible on horseback.
Hope that someone finds mine, and I also hope to find others too!

Ooh - that sounds exciting. I'm so pleased that boxing is taking off over in our corner of the world.
I'll be sure to look for your boxes next time I go to Brisbane to visit my Grandparents.

Good luck and Happy boxing!

Jay,

We've been checking the site and watching the Queensland tally go up and up! It's awesome. Next time we're up there we hope to find some. I don't have a single stamp from an Australian letterbox yet, only the ones we got in the US when we discovered letterboxing. How did you find out about it?

Keep hiding them!

HI

I discovered letterboxing when someone posted a thing about letterboxing on horseback on a group I'm a member of. That's why all my letterboxes are also accessible (and designed) for horse riders. www.letterboxingonhorseback.com

I can't carve, tho'!!! So I'm just using store-bought stamps..... but nice ones!! I can't wait to find my first one!! Have to go to Brisbane to do that, I think! I'll be placing another one next weekend at Kilkivan.

Although I lived in the States for 9 years, I didn't know about it there.

When I first starting thinking about attributes for letterboxes, I had considered creating a "horse friendly" option for those people who might like to letterbox on horseback and plant a box in a horse-friendly venue. Kind of threw that idea out when I couldn't think of a single person on AQ who might have been interested in such a feature. I may have to reconsider now, though! =)

Hello to those interested in a letterbox along a horsetrail-------

We have just such a box. It is also one that is found by other ways but for those that like horseback riding and letterboxing it is included in our pages for listing of boxes.

G'day! I'm a yank living down under; I caught the letterboxing bug back in the States and I've now planted my first letterbox, inviting my fellow letterboxing enthusiasts to come and explore the Western District (Southern Grampians) while searching out my letterbox. It's only available until the 22nd of November 2008...so come and search it out soon. Have fun!

Hi--I am Terrio from Madison, WI and my daughter is in Australia studying for a semester at Menzies College--Bundoora, Victoria. I have found a HH here in WI and would like to ship it to her to place in a box that she finds. Since she is not "really" a letterboxer could someone tell me if there are any in her area? (I am geographically challenged!) Would it be better to just give her the site and see if she can figure it out herself? And lastly, is there anyone out there that could go along with her? (longshot I know....) Thanks! I will appreciate any help! Terri O

There are several listed on LbNA as well. Very possibly those listed there may be listed at AQ also. The Australia boxes at LbNA are in the general international list so you have to pull up the entire international list and scan through.

You can also do a city search, scroll all the way to the bottom where it says other countries. Click on that and then click on Australia.

Hi,

We're coming to Australia the first two weeks in January for my daughter's 21st birthday. We'll have a car in Tasmania, but are using public transportation for Sydney and Melbourne. Anyone care to weigh in on some tourist friendly boxes?

We appreciate any and all help!

Are there any Australian letterboxers? Do they operate on a private website or something? I see that the only post in the last YEAR on this thread resulted in 0 replies. I tried "googling" Letterboxing Australia and found one website, last updated in 2005. Spike and I are making a trip to Australia and would love to do some boxing and maybe even a plant. Helllloooo - anyone out there? Any "clue" appreciated, Mates.

G'day Yiker

There are a few of us here. My wife and I brought letterboxing to Australia in 2004 after a trip to her hometown of Watkinsville, Georgia. We found some around there after reading about it in the Atlanta newspaper. When we got back to Melbourne, we planted the first Aussie one, now retired (http://www.atlasquest.com/boxes/clue/index.html?gBoxId=1838).

We ended up planting four, all of which have since disappeared unfortunately. But now, after moving back to Brisbane, Queensland, we are keen to start planting again. And since it started here in 2004, there seem to have been quite a few plants for us to find.

When are you coming and where are you visiting?

What a shame ... we had two within walking distance of public transport in Melbourne, but both have disappeared. Sorry. Wish they were still there for you. Have you managed to find any? Hope you have a great trip.

Spike will be working North of Melbourne (Seymour) for 6 weeks, starting Feb. 18. He probably won't have much time for letterboxing working 6 days/week, but I'm going to join him on April 1 and we'll have 13 days split between Melbourne area and Sydney. Hoping to do a bit of boxing and plant a box or two while there! Keep me posted on any updates! Yiker

Good Day to all letterboxers in Australia....

2 years ago, I carved a letterbox for a friend that was traveling for a month in Australia. It was planted on Hamilton Island and the groundskeepers found it a little while ago. They were wonderful about contacting me and not throwing the letterbox out. Unfortunately, this is not a good place for the box and I guess it is a bit remote. Anyone down in Australia willing to plant this box in a little more convenient place if I can arrange to get the letterbox to you?

Let me know and I will try to hook you up with the box....

Thanks....
