Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum mysteries: One for the Money, Two for the Dough, etc are hilarious! I also enjoy the Burglar series by Lawrence Block. Burglars Can't Be Choosers, The Burglar in the Closet, etc. (He also has an entertaining Hit Man series: Hit Man and Hit List are the only two books so far). Bill Fitzhugh has some wonderfully funny books, starting with Pest Control. Dana Stabenow writes mysteries set in Alaska and one that is particularly funny is called Break Up. Also the Joan Hess Maggody Mysteries are a hoot. (they are set in Arkansas and have some interesting southern humor!)

Quote Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum mysteries

Ditto! I thought of those right off, as well.

Amanda,

I agree about Stephanie Plum. Janet has another book out now called Metro Girl, which I've been trying to read... can't get into it like I can with Stephanie. Have you tried this one?

I've read Metro Girl. It was ok.....I didn't like the main character as much, and the story line seemed similar to the Stephanie Plum ones.

I wonder if she is going to develop this character as much as Stephanie, and write a whole new series of books?
