Which ink for linoleum carves?

I found a letter box today that I have been searching for for a couple of years now. I was so excited. I tried it ink it. Nothing. Tried to ink it again. Nothing again. It's that linoleum stuff glued to a particle board block. I'd really like to have the stamp in my book. Is there a type of ink that's better for this type of medium? Thanks

Short of going out with a roller and paint try a heavy pigment ink

I read somewhere that if you sharpy it first then use pigment ink, that should work.

Was it cold? I've found this can be an issue especially with stamps that have been undiscovered a while. Warming it up, rubbing it on my sweatpants can sometimes get it to take ink.
I also have a "gloopy black" that will occasional stick when nothing else does.
A suggestion: Stamp on an index card or scrap paper before trying to put it in your log book. If you gt a good impression, you can then try your book or cut and paste. If it is poor, no harm no foul :)
If nothing else seems to work, take a picture of it with your camera and paste that in your log book
Congrats on finding an elusive box!!
