Restrictions AFTER a PD designation

Would a restriction be ok after a PD (purple diamond) has been designated or it that not in the spirit of the game?
In this case would only be the restriction of you have to at least have an AQ account.
The past few months have had several (3 that I know of) Girl Scout Brownie troops come to the nature center/park in their quest to get both their geocache and letterboxing badges.
Not that I don't think these 7 y/o girls aren't deserving but so far none of these groups has created an account/recorded the finds.
One of the groups I was able to direct to another box with a large cache of stamps but was just lucky to have been at the park that day. The leader was super lovely and she had the girls promise they wouldn't share the "secret" location of the boxes with friends when they visited the park on future field trips.
So is it cool to restrict these boxes or not really?

It's perfectly fine to add restrictions after Plant a Letterbox Day has passed--or even on or before. The no restriction requirement is only for the widget which counts boxes for state and country numbers.

I think Three Flamigo's is referring to a box with a Purple Diamond and not Plant a Letterbox Day.

I feel that as the owner of the box you are free to put restrictions on a box at any time you choose, especially if you feel it's safety is in question.

I don't think the fact that it has received a PD has any bearing on the situation. I don't think it goes against the spirit of the game.

Thank you. Was asking because my understanding is that if a stamp/box has restrictions on it, it is not eligible for a PD. Just want to make sure not breaking rules.

FYI

Brownies earn the Letterboxing badge and Juniors earn the Geocaching badge.

Not that it is cool to hurt your box by anyone, but just want you to have all the facts.

I had no idea? But that's good to know.

The leader explained to me that they were getting both badges. We have both a geocache and letterbox in the nature center. They started with the geocache first, then did both letterboxes. There was about 12 girls, they were all very young, 6-8 years old.

Maybe she was just familiarizing them with the geocache? Or maybe it was 2 troops of both brownies and juniors?

Somewhere on our county parks and recreation FB page are some pictures of them sitting around the table in the nature center with captions describing geocaching and letterboxing in the park.

I was not aware of that. But if I had to choose between maybe losing a PD (if you would lose it by putting the restrictions on it??) and having the box go missing I'd put the restrictions on it. A rating is just a subjective opinion. The box is............the box.

And usually after they get the badge they forget all about the hobby anyway so will never be back. That's also a thought. :::shrug:::

You might have girls earn both badges in one of these situations:
* at the end of 3rd grade, Brownies earn their wings and flyup to Juniors. Part of the activities for that phase can be to work on/earn a Junior badge.
* the troop may have been a mix of Brownies and Juniors and the leader felt it was ok for all of these girls to do the requirements for both badges (a Junior wouldn't have anywhere to put the letterboxing patch on her uniform though and a Brownie would need to wait for a Junior uniform)
* some councils offer geocaching badges to all levels of Girl Scouts. I think ours does.
