I finally got the chance to see the park post-Irma. Walked the Cherokee. Dozens of trees down. Dozens and dozens. If you have boxes in the park and you use trees as landmarks, you'll probably want to check your plants/clues. I know of at least one where the clue will likely need modified. But you may want to wait a few weeks as they are still doing cleanup. A couple sections of the trail are still blocked by downed trees.

I still remember the ice storm a few years back where the lady at the gate told us there were 500,000 trees down. 500,000!!! I still can't believe they made someone go out and count them all!!!

Dang...I don't feel like the park had a chance to recover since the big storm from a few years back. Crappers. Maybe we can do an annual cleanup but instead of trying to cover big portions of the park, just focus on specific areas and rotate from year-to-year? It's a shame to let it go but with all the pines in the park, i guess it's inevitable. This is the reason I think rocks make for much better landmarks than trees if possible. If no rocks, then hardwoods. Those pesky pine trees are just waiting to spoil our clues.
