Geocacher Found Empty Letterbox

I received a message from a geocacher I know who found an empty letterbox while searching for a nearby geocache. This geocacher added a piece of paper, wrote her name on the paper and hung up the box where it appears to have fallen from. This geocacher asked me if this was the appropriate thing to do. I think it was, but what do others think?
I've tried to bring this geocacher over to letterboxing, but this geocacher responded, "I already have enough hobbies."

The answer is clearly "NO"
What she should have done is gotten super excited and then rushed home to carve her own signature stamp before signing up for AtlasQuest. :-)

Um, empty letterbox? Did she say where?

I think the appropriate thing to do was to contact you, which she did. Then, if you haven't already done so, I'd recommend that you contact the letterbox owner to let them know. If the owner is no longer active, you can 1) leave a comment saying that the box is empty and 2) maybe ask Ryan to retire the box. Empty boxes are no longer letterboxes.

This cacher said where, and contacted the letterboxer via Atlas Quest. This cacher has logged a few letterboxes here, but only the ones I've posted on both sites.

The boxer is still active. In fact, the box had twice been found and logged here. It was planted on July 1, 2017, and now the stamp and logbook are missing.

Ah. It doesn't really matter if the cacher put a piece of paper in the empty box and hung it up. What matters is that she contacted the planter.

Yea, I was only concerned that the letterboxer was contacted. And since I have a number of area boxes hanging, I was hoping it wasn't one of mine. 😉
