If the material samples are something you (or test carvers) think is going to work, consider asking folks who are anxious for an OZ replacement, to "pre-pay" orders for it. I know I would be willing to do that, and it might make buying that initial big shipment of material, easier on your finances.

I have (finally) found a manufacturer that is willing to work with me on perfecting the OZ Kut formula and making it in batch sizes that I can actually afford to buy.

Hurray!

Have you decided on a name yet? Will it still be the same "OZ"? If not, you've already used PZ, so QZ?

I really, really hope this turns out well for everyone. Thank you for your perseverance! I would also test carve, and pre-order if that would help.

The name will depend on what the material feels like. I'm hoping for a brand new PZ, of course! :)

Thanks for all the test carving offers. I'll let you know, once the trial bits arrive and I try them out. I'm actually hopeful and excited for the first time in a loooong while.

Oh, and the other fun possibility is maybe having color again for knife carvers to be able to see their cuts more easily. :)
Pokemon Event: Converting weekend event stamps to box stamps

I need some help in how to do this. I had a variety of traditional, event and HIPs stamps at my Pokemon event last summer. I created listings as such. Now they will be traveling to multiple events I attend, but most likely not planted. There are too many to plant for any reasonable hunting time. So how would I list all these stamps (and future stamps) as a traveling event set while still preserving what people have found? I am also trying to avoid making people create a second find on them. I think I caused myself some problems by the way I listed them.

Thank You.

P.S. If anyone who donated stamps to last summers Pokemon event that requested them to be returned, please let me know. I had email problems last year and lost a lot of emails pertaining to the event.

Just retire the listings you are finished with that you used for your event. The finds on those boxes will not be affected. Retiring boxes doesn't do away with finds on those boxes. They remain forever.

Then just list them again as totally new. Since they are going to be traveling event boxes and not planted?......that's what you mean, right?....list them as event stamps.

You might want to change the names on the new listings slightly to avoid confusion. But you are basically done with the "old" boxes and have created "new" boxes. Retire the old and create the new.

Thanks for all the test carving offers.

I'd offer to test carve too, but I'm not as picky as others. You should make the material satisfactory for those who are most discerning.

Oh, and the other fun possibility is maybe having color again for knife carvers to be able to see their cuts more easily. :)

I know that this type of material is desired by knife carvers. Have you picked a color yet?

Not yet. It turns out that different colors have different properties, so it will depend on which color seems to work best (if any of them do...).

I agree with MissMoon. Retire the originals and re-list as event stamps. You could put a note in the clues that they were originally traditional plants in XX state. In case people don't want to find them a second time.
'The Secret' and other treasure hunt books.

So, I saw this show on the Travel Channel about The Secret. One of the multiple shows hosted by Josh Gates. The Secret is one of those 'treasure hunt' books that were (sort of) popular in the 80's. A guy hid 12 keys (redeemable for 12 gemstones) in 12 public parks in 12 cities around the United States. Similar to other books of it's kind, there are poems and pictures that contain clues as to the location of the treasures (sound familiar?). One was found within the first year by three teens, and one was found twenty years after that. But no one has claimed any of the ten remaining treasures..... I gotta assume that the Letterboxing community, brainstorming together as a group HAS to have as good a chance, if not BETTER, than the average schmo.... Any thoughts? ..... And we also need to find Fenn's Treasure while we're at it! It all seems to be right up our alley.

Seeing how I came late to the game, and never got to try any of the "good stuff", I am interested in trying some. I've only carved on pink.

I'd be happy to test for you if you need an unbiased opinion. ;)
