I did read that the forest service has prohibited geocaching in designated wilderness areas... but not in national forests (as yet).

sorry, can't find my source right now!

Yes, folks, it's that time of year. The leaves are falling, if they haven't already been felled. The rains and snows have started. The holidays are just around the corner. It's time to start thinking about 2006, and replacing all of your wall calendars while you're at it. Or buying that perfect gift for a letterboxing buddy near you.

Introducing: The Atlas Quest 2006 Letterboxing Wall Calendar!

Each month features a beautiful photo taken by one of our own. Most were taken in areas where letterboxes can be found. From California to Ontario, this calendar will inspire you to, as Mark Pepe might put it, GET OUT THERE AND BOX! =)

no see you at least have a reason why he could'nt go out... I however could not go out because my mother is so worried that the minute i leave my house, that i will get stolen and all these bad things: in which case i understand her fear... but im a lot older now, and she at least needs to lighten up a little bit. We live in a nice neighborhood where nothing has happened in a long time (in which case i know it could at any time)but in a few years, she will not be able to restrict me from going places, and thats going to kill her to see me grow up.

Okay, originally the Atlas Quest board was supposed to be for announcements and other pertenant AQ activities, but it's sometimes hard to read the announcement through all the chat about ghosts, holidays, and other chit chat.

So, I've created this new board for making annoucements! =) If you want "just the facts", this is the board to watch.

Happy trails!

I originally created this board to make annoucements of updates, downtimes, etc. for Atlas Quest, but it seems to have become more of a general chit-chat board. Which is okay, but sometimes I feel like important annoucements get lost in the shuffle. So I've created a new announcement board called Atlas Quest Announcements. Probably a good one to mark as a Favorite Board if you want to know all the happenings going on at AQ.

Chats about ghosts, holiday themes, or whatever else comes to mind will continue here. =)

Just wanted to say that I love the new Thanksgiving motif! I don't see anything moving, so hopefully I'm not missing anything! I still don't know if people were serious about seeing a ghost, though...

I think the creation of the Announcements board is a good idea, I've already marked it. Sorry this one ended up as general chat-like board, but it's good too because it connects more people from all over than, say, just the North Carolina Board.

All in all, great job!

What? You don't see the turkey at the bottom doing sittups trying to slim down before the holidays? Must be a coding error on my part. *frown*

ROFL ... I am hysterically laughing! (nodding head) I totally agree on the creative punishments part!! When our kids refused to clean there room I'd give them one warning, if they did not do it with in twenty four hours I did it! And everything they loved either go thrown out or placed in the trunk of my car. They would have to earn each item back one at a time. And they could only earn one back a day! Usually they did extra chores. Yes I said extra, they had chores to do every Saturday and if those were not done they lost the use of the pool! (We use to lived in South Florida) Heck, once they were fighting over the TV so they lost that for the whole summer! Man were they mad! But, if you ask them now, they will tell you it was the best summer they have ever had because they bonded and really used their imagination. It may sound harsh but we have great kids. And we always get complements on their behavior and manners.

Oh yeah...I'm so sorry, by the way....we never ended up coming by your place last night...we spent so long getting ready and so long going through all this drama between some people (you can guess who...and if you can't, then I'll just tell you later)...

But, i've got plenty of pictures of both of my costumes, so i'll show them to you later.

Sorry, hun...

Wait a minute, high school girl! I saw you last week and you look a little tall to be mooching candy! :-) Maybe your parents didn't want to deal with the calls when neighbors complained about "you young ruffians that can afford you own candy".

Actually, I only had my neighbor's little 8 year old from up the street and a group of 6 middle schoolers come, so thank goodness for big kids or we'dve been stuck with a ton of Weight Watchers' no-no's!

Wouldn't it be funny if someone ended up having TONS of excess candy at the end of the night, and rather than giving or throwing it away, tried to hawk it on eBay. "Please! Bid on this candy! It's left over from Halloween when not enough kids came knocking on my door. I'm on a diet and MUST GET RID OF IT IMMEDIDATELY!!!!"

I think that would be funny. *more nodding* =)

I don't know what's more sad...the idea of that being posted up on eBay for sale, or the fact that my dad (eBay freak and total chocoholic) would buy it.

sigh....

but, agreed, you're never too old to go trick or treating....but, the older you look, the better your costume had better be!!!

You know, I deliberately tried to find pictures that would appeal to everyone--not just letterboxers--so you CAN give them such a cool calendar even if they aren't letterboxers. Maybe it'll even get a couple of other people hooked too. ;o)

Yeah, uh huh..definately not going to fall for that one. I'm still pissed there actually wasn't a ghostie....I thought it'd be almost as cute as that little spider.

but NO....somebody's gotta mess around with me about some wandering ghost...

besides, I already found the moving thing for this design, it's the little ants that are wandering all over the cornocopia in the bottom left corner. So, hah!

You are sweet! I haven't found somewhere to plant the Anne stamp yet. I want to find somewhere secure. It took too much time to carve only to end up losing it. I hope to make Anne a part of a series of favorite children's books someday, but I need to get carving first.
