okay here is a detailed description.

if i go to my seaches i have a number of searches. let's say one of the tags say "to solve" under the title is 2 boxes. 1 box says search the other says edit. if i click on the edit box it brings me to the edit favorite search box. the only thing i want to change is the name. so i click on the search name and it allows me to rename it. let's say i changed it "to find" and click save. i go back to the my searches and yes, the name has been changed.

so now i am looking through my logbook and click on a box i solved and want to mark it "to find". so i click on the clue and the box that says "your tags" is there. only the name i changed "to find" is not there. it still says "to solve"

i didn't put the url here because of the nature of the name changes.

does that make sense?

I watched Moonrise Kingdom again last night and could rewatch it a million times and find something new to appreciate each time. This is really my favorite of the Wes Anderson films. Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Francis McDormand, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Bob Balaban as the Narrator and the child actors are all stellar as well. The soundtrack is also a favorite. This is one of my favorites, but it is not on the soundtrack https://youtu.be/KoO6XVCKDc8?si=HdGsiMNX_HF31Vyb

One problem is nomenclature. When you're bringing up your searches, you're seeing the names of your saved searches. These are not tags. Tags are associated with boxes. Looks like you're a premium member so you have eight tags you can use and they're all different colors.

It sounds like you went to your My Searches page and edited the named of one of your saved searches. After that I got lost again. Maybe you're using the same words for naming searches as you are for naming tags and expecting the search names to carry over to the tag names. Since they're two different things that won't happen.

In my last company (which in 2022 forced anybody 65 or older into retirement.....no ifs ands or buts) mine was the only department that hadn't had any nervous breakdowns or long-term hospital stays for mental exhaustion and or critical suicide attempts. Then I was one of the ones forcibly retired and now they've got six people out with mental illness leaves. You are not alone. It is very frustrating and I don't blame you for being upset and I will be thinking about you

What are some creative ways you’ve camouflaged your containers?

I’ve made fake rocks using pvc pipe ends, expandable spray foam and stone textured spray paint. I spray the foam around the pvc pipe leaving the end open, once it has expanded and dried I shape the foam to look like the size of the native rocks in my area. Then spray them with the stone texture. They are super lightweight and I use them around event central when I’m hosting events.

I use Gorilla camo tape to cover my boxes but I take it one tiny step further - once the box is in place, I cover it with a flat rock THEN create a SPOR or whatnot on top of the flat rock. A curious Muggle might check out the SPOR only to find rock. And yes, I ALWAYS put the flat rock in the clues!

I love this question!

I did a whole series of creative containers for a series in northern Michigan. And, crazily, shortly after I planted them, with only 1 finder, a tornado went through the area and obliterated the natural area. I went back after about a year, hoping to find the boxes. I found the first 2 and the last 2 and the trail was no more.

Some of the containers:
I planted a box underground, but attached to a plastic fern which blended in with the ferns of the area.
I attached a birdhouse to the back of a tree and the box was inside the tree.
I had a log which split apart, revealing the letterbox inside.
I hid a Michigan animal figurine behind a tree which had an inside spot to hide the letterbox stamp.

I remember how fun it was to plan all these.

Some great containers I've found:
Inside a library, I found a partial set of World Book encyclopedias glued together (maybe about 8 of them). When I pulled out the glued World Books, a cubby had been created on the backside for the stamp and logbook.
I found a fake wasp's nest hanging from a tree.

As Dawnkey pointed out, it sounds like you were changing the name of the search, not the name of the tag. I poked into your account and it appears that you've managed to figure out how to change the tag name as well since I now see a tag with the name "Found" on it.

When you first create an AQ account, there will automatically be several saved searches created based on your location. Kind of trying to help out getting the account set up and optimized for people. So depending on what location you provided, you might see some searches automatically set up that search boxes near your town, around your state or even around the country. It'll also set up come searches for events that might be relevant to your location as well.

But regardless of how the searches were added, everything in the "My Searches" page is a search specifically for your account, and each of them is labeled with a name of your choosing--but that has absolutely nothing to do with the search itself.

It's not uncommon for people to mistake the name of the search for the actual search, though. Usually it's when someone had saved a search for a specific city (e.g. Seattle), then they moved or something and wanted to change the search to another city (e.g. San Diego) and change the name of the search--then are confused why the search still returns boxes for Seattle.

Anyhow, it looks like you figured out how to change the name of the tag (and the search!), so I'll let it go now. If there's something I'm missing, though, do let me know. =)

Turning off comments question

If you have a plant that you don't want to accept comments on, maybe because of the nature of the location, or it's a mystery box that could be "outted", or sensitive for whatever reason, can you turn off comments on just that box without changing all your plants by default? Or would I have to keep deleting comments made on that box, one by one?

Moonrise Kingdom
Board: Movie Moments

Thread Board
Release in 2012 comes . . . Moonrise Kingdom.

The premise is as follows:

Set (mostly) on the mystical island of New Penzance, two emotionally disturbed 11 years meet and have an instant connection.

After having written letters to each other for over a year, Sam (now age 12) and Suzie (also now age 12) have decided to runaway together.

Their abscondment sets a series of events in motion that reveal the truth to several people's private lives, and an opportunity of growth and redemption. Oddly enough, the latter half of that last sentence applies to the youth surrounding Sam, not the adults, save two.

Now this movie has probably got to be the most symbolic in nature and the most in-depth in character(s) than previously viewed films. In Grand Budapest, we see motive and motion. But in Moonrise Kingdom we see the depth of the characters and their cracks, i.e. faults and lack of happiness.

In the quest to find the pair, we quickly see how Suzie's parent are functional professionals but terrible partners to each other, and absentee parents to their children. While they provide food, clothes and shelter, they absolutely lack an emotion connection with each other, their children and I think to a large degree with themselves.

And I would argue they are the first set of Karens. When their emotionally difficult daughter goes missing, they immediately blame the scout master for not having control over his troop. Um, Karens, you have no connection with your child, and you have done nothing but obtain a pamphlet to address her obvious problems.

In his solo quest to save Sam, we learn that the only cop on this idyllic island where our story mostly takes place has realized he is losing his last chance at finding something of his own to have and make him happy.

Then you have a scout master who sees things, assesses things, directs, teaches but completely missed a huge issue in his own troop.

Meanwhile, its Suzie and Sam who, I think at the young age 12, really see the other for who they are. They haven't learned to dismiss this behavior or make excuses for it ,or learn take the high ground in response to that behavior. They, in their youth, can see and trust what they see. Additionally, they have not yet learned to mask themselves or create a false sense of self because they have a hidden agenda. They are who they are and the other sees them for that, completely.

But believe it or not, my favorite group affected by Sam and Suzie's abscondment is actually Troop 55. Once the douche leader is out of the way, another leader, having reflected upon perhaps his solid place in the world, whereas Sam had none, realized he had the chance to do better. And he does. Best line(s) ever: "He's a fellow khaki scout and he needs our help. Are we man enough to give him that so that part of his brain doesn't get removed out of him?"

My second favorite moment involves Billy Murry. "I hope the roof flies off and I get sucked up into space." I think this is the most relatable moment ever. When overwhelmed with so many problems, and no solutions, I think we all at times wish we could just disappear.

Okay, having said way more than enough . . . on to my WA Paws:

Two WA Paws for this amazing cast. While you have actual Oscar winners here, it's the children that really shine in the movie.

One WA PA again for scenery, sets and costumes. The Wes Anderson style in this movie is simply sublime.

One WA PA for a wonderful original story.

A Half of WA PAW for such wonderful quotes.

But I have two problems.

(Goddamnit, captain!!! I know, I know.)

Snoopy

And maybe she should have been wearing a bathing suit. I mean, I get it but I am not certain that moment has aged well.

No Paw taken.

Movie stands at 4.5.

So, if you want an excellent movie with some Wes Anderson magic, then consider Moonrise Kingdom for your next movie. This movie would do well on a stormy Friday night with your favorite camping style foods.

Wes Anderson Movie Trivia and Prize

Okay . . . if you have been following along, you know that for this Movie-thon I am doing a trivia game and a wonderful prize for the winner of the trivia.

When I initially started this movie-thon I believed that I would be able to cover 8 movies with 24 questions. Alas, due to some travel I could not complete 8 movies.

So, I am reducing the number of questions to 21, 3 questions per movie.

The questions will be based on the movies viewed. If I didn't watch and review it, there won't be questions related to it.

Trivia Questions will be posted Wednesday night, 5/1/24 at 6 pm, California time, 9 pm New York Time on the Movie Board.

First person to answer all 21 questions CORRECTLY, wins! Once the winner is determined, I will post answers and the winner in reply to my list of questions.

Any questions or concerns, you have until Wednesday to ask or express.

The prize????

So, as with so many things, I turned to the wonderful world of Esty for the prize. Prize contains 5 items from 5 Wes Anderson films but not necessarily movies we have reviewed. I basically saw it, liked it, bought it.

Again, any questions or concerns, you have until Wednesday to ask or express.

The winner will have to provide an address for mailing prize purposes.

I can only find a way to make this choice for all boxes, under preferences. It sure seems like a good idea to have the choice for individual boxes but that does not seem to be possible right now. Perhaps Ryan can add this feature? Seems simple enough to do, just add another multiple choice item to the edit box page!

Yes, you can decide how comments are added to your plants.

If you go to the "My Page" tab, select the preferences page. Once there, click on "Letterbox & Searches". You'll see theses options:

Public Comments

What would you like to do with public comments on your boxes?

Immediately publish all comments.
You can delete them later if necessary.

Moderate all comments before publishing.
Comments will auto-approve if you do nothing.
