I am so glad you had good weather! We had a great sky, just VERY muggy. But at least we had plenty of shade to wait it. There were wisps of clouds, but in didn't matter. 20 minutes later, a storm cloud rolled over. Phew!

About ONE minute before totality, someone from the park staff was chain sawing about 100M away!! Seriously, WTH??!! So we all yelled in unison "PLEASE STOP SAWING" and he did.

We too had an amazing eclipse experience and enjoyed our AtlasQuest souvenir glasses! We were just north of Columbia, SC and had beautiful blue skies. Husband skipped out of work and we had a great family outing! We stayed on the back roads out of Charlotte, NC and had no traffic whatsoever. Apparently there were also epic backups on all the interstates out of Columbia and between Charlotte and Atlanta. Not sorry we missed that! Can't wait for 2024! Thanks Ryan!

We were staying in Salt Lake for a family reunion, and went up to Rexburg, ID to see the eclipse. It took the usual 3 1/2 hours on Sunday afternoon to get to Rexburg. Just like Ryan's blog post warned, people started leaving as soon as totality finished. We waited until it was all finished, then had a leisurely lunch, packed up, and spent nearly an hour on the BYU-Idaho campus and in the bookstore (because I started their pre-program, Pathway this week, and will be enrolling there next year as an online student, and wanted to at least have been on campus once before graduating), and then we went and joined the traffic line. It took 10 1/2 hours to get back to our motel in Salt Lake, including a half-hour food stop in Blackfoot.

But our Prius spent most of that time in electric mode, so it took almost no gas on that trip. :)

And the traffic was totality worth it!

Now looking for friends in Texas who will be in the path of totality in 2024...who won't mind three people willing to sleep on couches and floors for two nights...

You can camp out in my backyard. ;)
I think though, that i'm going to try to find some place closer to the center of totality, because it looks like it will be closer to four minutes there, as opposed to one minute at my house. Still have plenty of time to plan. :)

I just checked the path and I don't even need to leave town ... 100%! There's a school track just around the block where I suspect many will camp out.
