Sigh.

If only it mentioned not to take the stamp from the box. The part "take a penny leave a penny" fills me with dread.
Maybe a paragraph about rehiding better than you found it. And being sure the box goes back exactly where it was found???

Maybe a link to the AQ help pages that explain it a little better?

Yeah, it scares me a little, too. Fortunately I'm 40 miles from Atlanta & lots of mine are on longer trails.

I'm just about to send this response to the site. Please reply in the next hour if you have ideas for edits or inclusions. Otherwise, I'm pressing send at 10:15 am. ;)

In response to this letterboxing article:

http://www.atlantaparent.com/article/detail/6137

The GA letterboxing community is concerned that the usage of the phrase "take a penny, leave a penny" will result in widespread taking of stamps from letterboxes. Please consider amending this article to reflect that a finder must leave the stamp in the box. We plant these boxes with these stamps for everyone to enjoy for many years. The "take a penny, leave a penny" mentality in letterboxing results in stolen stamps, destroyed containers, and hours of hard work essentially reduced to trash.

Thank you for featuring our hobby. We always encourage and enjoy newcomers!

Thanks!

on one hand she says to return original contents to box and then immediately says take a penny, leave a penny. I understand she means images but the wording is precarious for sure. I think your letter is fine since you are clarifying that you don't want people to think of the taking a penny aspect as taking an object...just the image.

That is why all my plants are restricted some how. Most with 1plant restrictions. Hope if you are planting then you have done more than just read an article.:)

The article hasn't been changed. Do you all think another letter from someone else would help? Or will we just have to see what happens, if anything, as a result of this article?

It is digital. I thought they could explain the penny content more or edit it out. Would take like two seconds to do so. Or at least respond to my email.
