I also, have a box of old textbooks. There are arthimatic, English, reading, and science books. Some of the reading books are illustrated. Dates from 1890 - 1950s.

All money will go to our library to help keep it open. It operates on 100% donations.

Thanks!

So glad to hear he is doing well and will come home. :)
I know it's going to be a hard adjustment.

For your books, try Biblio.com to see what other booksellers are listing them for. only thing is, it might take a while to find a buyer. eBay might be your best bet for listing them for sale. Or see if there is a used book seller in your town that will buy them from you. That way, you won't have to keep up with them. You won't get full asking price, but then you won't have to store them either.

Virtual hugs to you!

P.s. if they were published in the 1500-1600s, you could pay off his bills with one book!

Have you thought about trying E-Bay for selling some of the older books. They might be worth more than you think. I have sold books online and made a small fortune.

I have considered it.
I really don't have the space to store them long term. I'd rather get rid of them. I already have to go back to the library today to pick up another carfull of books.

How long does it usually take to sell them? Any helpful tips? Maybe I'll try it with a few and see how it goes...

Thanks!

You decide how long you want to post them. It is usually costs 35 cents to list them. You never know how much you will get. I sold a Disney pin I had bought for $6.00 and it sold on EBay a few years for $170.00

I think the default for ebay auctions is one week. But you can extend that or make it only 3 days. Craigslist might also be an option, depending on where you are located. Here in Seattle, Craigslist gets huge turnover. And I sold a ton of stuff when my mom died on craigslist, especially large things that were not practical to mail.

I listed on a facebook page for local selling that I had a bunch of books for $1 a piece. These are ones that are very worn, ripped pages or are common. I am setting some aside that are of a little more value. I have some textbooks with lovely illustrations in them. They are children's reading textbooks, and I have a few of them. One I saw listed for $12.

Not sure if I want to hassle with eBay still. I might have to open up a little bookstore! ;) I have enough books.... I am considering placing a table up at the library and having a mini book sale after hours on a weekend day. But I might need more preparation for that, so I can advertise it better... Next year for sure!

Any and all ideas welcomed! Thanks!

A project my group of ladies worked on last weekend reminded me of this thread.

We made these out of dollar store books.

You could do it with your books, they have plans for lots of different things you have to adjust for your book size. Then make a bunch with the books you have and sell them for a small fortune each at a local craft sale. I just love the one I made.

Interesting idea.
My mom made Christmas trees out of some of her old books.

Some of these books have beautiful illustrations in them and I just couldn't possibly fold them like that. maybe the old textbooks...

We used to always use old Reader's Digest for this!
