Atlas Quest

What is a “growing” box?

That is a letterbox where finders are invited to add their own stamp to the letterbox. They often have some sort of theme. So, for instance, the letterbox might be a “toolbox” and finders are encouraged to add a new stamp for some sort of tool to the toolbox. The theme can be pretty much anything: favorite cartoon characters, dream vacation destinations, insects in the forest, birds visiting a bird feeder, etc. Or you can just make it open-ended and allow people to add absolutely anything they want.

Atlas Quest now has an option so that people can add multiple stamps to a single box, and this would be the ideal way of listing new stamps to the box. Whenever someone adds a stamp, they should contact the owner of the box to let them know, then the owner of the box can add the stamp as a new stamp for the box along with who the carver is.

In the past, this option did not exist and the recommended method of listing the extra stamps was to list them as “other” boxes so it would accurate count plants and finds for traditional boxes, and the clue for the growing box might even link to them to make them easier for finders to look up. After all, despite the number of stamps in a box, it should still count as just one plant and one find!

This can still work, and you’ll see this method used on pretty much all older growing boxes, but it’s an antiquated method of listing a growing box. Now it is easier and faster just to list each additional stamp as a new stamp in the same box. (Just be careful not to list it as a new box in a series, since some people sometimes do this by accident.)
