Description

Ghosts, Witches, Bats in the Belfry, Oh My!

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the town crier cried: Come one come all to Fredericksburg and have a ball! Rain or shine!
Ye event will be walking thru the streets of Old Town Fredericksburg, VA discovering its charm and perhaps seeing a live ghost or two, meeting a witch, and of course to avoid a bat wear a hat!

This here event will be starting from the Hyperion Espresso Coffee Shop, 301 William Street, (William and Princess Anne St.) between 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This coffee shop serves delicious coffee and baked goodies. Some of you may feel you may get caught up in the new fangled traffic, en route, I will send to thee a way to contact me should thou desire.

A prepared participant may want to stop by the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 706 Caroline Street, (between Charlotte and Hanover Street) en route to the check-in to grab a street map. Look around and see if there is anything else that may catch thy eye! If you miss this stop, I will provide thee a map.

Three research questions for letterboxes will be posted in this spot 2 weeks prior to event start date. Correct answers will entitle thee to receive the clues. Bring thy answers to the event.

1. Who is the main character in a cartoon series of a ghost depicted as a little boy? Bonus: What is the family name of the little boy?
2. In whose house does the spirit of the young confused confederate soldier haunt in the Fredericksburg area?
3. What Fredericksburg establishment received recognition on the National Register of historic places on June 30th, 2005?

Our ending location will be at The Colonial Tavern home to the Irish Brigade, 406 Lafayfette Blvd., (Lafayette Blvd. and Kenmore Ave.) The upstairs room will be ours from 5-9 PM where a buffet dinner will be available. The cost will be around $16.00/adult and $5.00/child. If thou shall be eating at the buffet , I need your full payment by Thursday, October 8TH. This is the time to eat, drink, be merry and exchange stamps. Raffle prizes will be drawn for adults and children. I hope all will bring a spooky story to share. Don’t forget your flashlights!

Free Parking is available all day at these spots.
1. Turn into the Colonial Tavern parking, drive past the restaurant into the commuter lot next door. Look for event sign.
2. Amtrak/VRE station, about 1 block away.
3. 3 small public parking lots on Sophia Street.
