Description

The historic marble courthouse in Canton, GA will be a great indoor location for Jingle Boxing this year! The small downtown historic area has a good amount of nearby places that will be easy to walk to, even if the weather isn't that great. Inside we can have a potluck- please list what you're planning to bring! The building does have wheelchair access except on the fourth floor and there are bathrooms. There is free onsite parking, but parking on the square in front of the building is a little trickier (there are posted time limits).

The building is quite large, so feel free to bring boxes to hide onsite- though this is a working office building (but it's the weekend) so the boxes will have to go home with you or be hidden outside in Canton if you wish to leave them in the area. We're being hosted by the Cherokee County Historical Society, so please try to visit their museum which will be open that morning in the building if you can.

I'm also just going to point out I'm not a very good carver, so please someone else make the actual event stamp. Any volunteers? UPDATE: Sweet n Sassy has kindly offered to make the event stamp!

Changed the date of the event from the 14th to the 7th so as not to compete with another event, please check the date/when you signed up!

The museum in the building will be open from 10am to 3pm the day of the event, please try to visit it. This means the building will also be open if you want to scout for places to hide temp boxes inside.

Also feel free to list any event boxes you plan on bringing!

I'm going to build a Hitchhiker Jail (since there's a jail on site) and I thought it'd be fun to put whatever hitchhikers I make before the event in the box along with anything I haven't replanted that I've found by then in it. I thought it'd be fun if we all brought some to swap- it'd be something easy to be stamping while we're eating or chatting- and at the end of the day you can take some home with you to spread around!

Talked to boss about event, everything looks great so far. No beekeepers in the building that weekend too! :) On another note- anyone who doesn't want to bring food, we could use a card table or two. There's spaces to sit, eat, and chat in the courtroom but not much table space. Apparently they've used the judge's desk in the past, but if anyone wants to bring a table instead that would be very welcome!

Dec 6, 2013: Final Update for Tomorrow
Hey Everyone,

Just a final heads up. The address to the museum/courthouse which is the headquarters of the event is

100 North Street
Canton, Ga 30144

You won't be able to miss the large white marble building, I promise you. The museum is to the left almost as soon as you come in the door- the courtroom (where the event will be held when the museum closes) is on the second floor in the middle of the building. There are stairs and elevators in the building.

The museum opens at 10am, which is when I will be on site. I will be in the museum until 3pm. The event does not officially start until 2pm but many people have asked for the clues early, ect, and there are plenty of boxes in Canton for you to hit besides. Many of the clues are listed online either under my profile- there are others from Deecee, Spitfire, Jailhouse Rock, and Jagil, who I would like to thank very much for all of their help. There will also be clue sheets available from me at the event- feel free to come in early if you want to. The clue sheets are accurate to what has been hidden by those listed above- other boxes in Canton are up to you.

As for food it looks like we have a good variety for tomorrow. If you want/need to drop off a crock pot, ect, you can do so to me at the museum. I will try not to eat all of the food before the event. :p It will be food time when the event officially starts at 2pm.

Also regarding 2pm- I highly recommend the R and M sandwich shop across the square from the museum. It's Canton's oldest restaurant and they make very good hoagies. It's only open until 2pm on the weekends though. There are plenty of fast food places open on Riverstone Parkway, though.

The official event stamp will not go live until the event actually starts.

I am also planning to bring a large posterboard, so we can all decorate it with our stamps- a sort of check-in list if you will. And the hitchhiker jail.

I cannot wait to meet everyone tomorrow and I hope you have a lot of fun! Again, I must say a great thank you to Deecee, Spitfire, Jagil, Sweet n' sassy and to Peepstone and Bluegoatz. They have all been very helpful in putting together the event and getting stamps for us.
