Description

It's the End of the World.
Fire. Floods. Ice. Asteroids. Polar Shifts. Nuclear Warfare. Global Warming. How will it end?

Letterboxing, Food, Celebration.
Carve and party like there's no tomorrow. Because there may not be.

The location is going to be in NYC. The exact details are being worked out, let's see how much interest there is.

Saturday, December 8th, 2012, 1pm-10pm.

Aug 1, 2012: Hello Everybody!
Thanks to everyone for signing up!

I am still gathering suggestions for meeting spots. In the cold almost-winter in NYC there's not many places to casually eat, exchange stamps and hide from asteroids, tidal waves and bombs...but that's okay! I'll let you all know the definite plan soon.

And hey, worst comes to worst, we can always build an ark, right?

We still have 5 spots left, so invite your friends to the End of the World!

Sep 1, 2012: Hello Everyone!
We now have all of our sign-ups for the event. I've searched and searched for a location and finally decided that we will be meeting at a central location at 1pm (and yes, we will wait for those who get lost or have fallen behind--perhaps I will take cell phone numbers just in case but we'll figure that out later), clues to some of the local boxes (and some new ones) will be distributed, and we will disperse for a few hours and gather later on at a nearby diner for dinner, exchanging, and hiding from nuclear fallout (I'm sure we can construct a shield of old hamburger patties that will absorb the radiation, right?).

See you all at the End of the World.

Sep 20, 2012: End Times Update!
We officially have a place to gather.

Here is our basic itinerary:
1pm: Meet us under The Clock inside Grand Central Terminal concourse area, near the information booth.

At this time, I will hand out clues to some event letterboxes. Come prepared with clues for other local boxes as well, if you wish. You will have 4 hours to hunt, shop, and tour the city, as you desire.

5pm: We will meet back at Grand Central Terminal and collectively head to Staten Island Ferry, where we will charter the rising sea levels as we make way to an island, reinforced by gaudy jewelry and government-grade hair gel. The modern day fallout shelter.

6pm-10pm: We have reservations to take shelter and gather our food supplies in a local restaurant called 120 Bay Cafe. In the event of the Zombie Apocalypse, they may be thwarted by the presence of another famous, and albeit a bit sexy, zombie woman hand-painted on the outside of the building. Or perhaps the fair to moderately priced options on the menu.

There will be event boxes, a hoard of PT's, and many letterboxers to meet and get to know. I look forward to wearing matching gas masks with you all.

Oct 10, 2012: Just Making Sure...
Just making sure everyone knows I changed the date to December 8th about a month ago. I know most of you messaged me acknowledging the change was good for you, but I'm just clearing up any confusion.

Thanks.

Dec 7, 2012: THE END IS NEAR!
We will be taking refuge (meeting) under the clock in the main concourse of Grand Central Terminal at 1pm.

I will give out clues then, and we will meet back at 5. We are centrally located so you can letterbox as well as take in the local holiday decor (Radio City, Rockerfeller Center, Macy's Windows...) FOR THE LAST TIME!!!!!!

We have lost almost HALF of our crew, but that is OK! Though, if we end up with a REALLY small group, we might just do a little local shindig in a diner. We'll play it by ear. (OR BRAAAAAAINSS!!!) I'm totally corny. I know. Hyper too. I just had a massive cookie.

It IS supposed to rain tomorrow. Come prepared. As Jumanji says...there will be a monsoon in your lagoon.

Stragglers are fine!
If anybody needs to make a call, I've got a phone.
631-566-6339. I charge 10 cents a minute, so it better be good.

Cheers,
Silvio

Dec 9, 2012: Thanks Everyone!
Thank you to everyone for coming to my event yesterday! If the world were to end, at least I got to see all of you! I hope you had a good time. And though the "record finds" page did not list them, if you go to the Event Boxes portion of the event listing (or to my profile) they are all listed!

Thank you!!
Silvio

Dec 10, 2012: Survival Kit
I've re-listed the Survival Kit as Traditionals, since that is what they were. So make sure to mark those as found! A Means of Protection is now by itself as an Event Stamp. :)
