Description

The world will end on December 21st, 2012!

But since it didn't, the next day we had a very morbid, very tongue-in-cheek celebration. The theme was any and all ways the world may kick the bucket, be it Mayan prophecy, a giant asteroid, Night Of The Living Dead, nuclear war or The Battle Of Armageddon.

Directions:
We set up a "Base Camp" at White Point State Park in San Pedro, former home to a WWII artillery bunker and a cold-war-era Nike Missile base. To get there, take the 110 freeway south until it ends and head south on Gaffey St. From there, head west to Western Ave (take your pick from 1st, 9th, 19th or 25th St) and follow it south until it ends and veer left onto Paseo Del Mar, which will dead end at a fence because the cliff-side street has collapsed into the ocean. Park anywhere along the street, or in the gravel parking lot in front of the nature center. The "Base Camp" was just to the left of the building under a couple shade trees where we had tables and canopies set up as a makeshift survivor's encampment.

Food:
It was potluck food, mostly finger foods and snacks that kept well throughout the day. Thematically, we were looking for such things as military rations (we had crackers and jerky) and zombie body parts (I had brain-shaped Jello) and Dezert Ratty heated up a big batch of chili.

We had several series planted for the event that still remain in the park:

We had several people dressed in a camo uniforms which was great. We had certain event boxes only available that day from Kelsung at the Base Camp:

- The Nine Gates Of The Kingdom Of Shadows by Bluegoatz

Bonus stamps:
- Getting both World War III stamps got you War Monument by mars888
- Getting all three Natural Disasters stamps got you K-Pg Extinction Event by Kelsung
- Getting all four ...And I Feel Fine stamps got you Micheal Stipe by I dig toasters
- Getting all four The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse stamps got you Tree Of Death by The Flip Flopper

Games:
- We played a card game called Zombie Fluxx at the base camp, and each winner got the clue to the "Zombie Fluxx" WOM box by Lee
- While walking the trails, we had a photo scavenger hunt (see below), and each winner got the clue to the "Alien Invasion" WOM box by MrOspital
- Both of these bonus clues might now be found floating around the park in other boxes.

Patches:
SweetSarah13 had 30 patches made of the event stamp which we sold for $5 each to cover their cost. People requested them as they signed up for the event, so most were claimed beforehand. By the end of the event, they were all gone.

Scavenger Hunt:
Along the trails throughout the park are a variety of informational plaques that include some pictures. I took some close-up photos of some of these, so if people spotted them while out boxing, they took a photo of the sign. When they showed me a pic of all the plaques I used, they got a clue to to the "Alien Invasion" WOM box.

This WOM clue, as well as the "Zombie Fluxx" WOM clue, may now be floating around the park in other boxes.
