Description

It's official - we finally found a home for B & B #5.
It's the Cape Point Hotel in West Yarmouth, MA.

Come and join us for this fun weekend during which you can find some of those great Cape letteboxes and make some life-long friendships as well. This is our 5th annual installment of this weekend and every one seems to have it's own vibe. We hope you can join us!

When reserving, you must mention Pinecone Adventures to receive your discounted, package price that we've negotiated for you.

Package price of $240 per couple (2) which includes 2 nights stay, 2 private breakfast buffets each morning for Saturday and Sunday mornings, room tax, gratuity and maid service - all included. One convenient price that rivals last year's pricing. Single in a room has a rate of $220 for the weekend so you probably want to "buddy up" and split a room! Additional nights before or after the event are available at a rate of $89 per couple + room tax per night.

A $100 per room deposit is needed when you reserve your room at the Cape Point Hotel. DON'T FORGET TO ASK FOR "PINECONE ADVENTURES" special package price for the weekend! Here's the hotel's website: http://www.capepointhotel.com/
Toll Free Reservations Phone Number: 1-800-323-9505 - make your reservations after April 12th, when our special prices will be input into their reservation system. Thanks!

We are exploring restaurants for our traditional Saturday night buffet. The hotel offers it but we weren't really impressed with what they had to offer for the price. We'll contact those signed up once we get something in place. The Saturday night dinner will be at an additional price of about $25 per person as it has been in the past.

Apr 10, 2012: Bed & Boxing Reservation Info now on event page
OK you sign-ups!

Thanks so much for signing up quickly before you knew pricing. I've posted pricing on AQ event page along with what's included and hotel's website and toll free reservation number. Go do it before you get locked out - there is space for 70 people only in the room we'll have for the weekend which is why I've limited this weekend to 70.

You'll need to leave a deposit of $100 per room when you call. Don't forget to reference "Pinecone Adventures" to get the special weekend package rate!

Thanks for your support!

May 25, 2012: Saturday night buffet during Bed & Boxing #5
Hi Gang,

I told you I'd be in touch once we signed the contract for our buffet and we have!

Dinner Saturday night is at Ardeo's, one of the Cape's finest eateries. The Italian buffet, which you will have to pay at the door, is $20 plus 25% tax and gratuity. A bargain!

Buffet includes:

Caesar Salad
Italian Red Cabbage Salad
Tomato & Mozzarella Salad
Cheese Tortellini
Homemade Meatballs
Chicken Piccata
Seafood Primavera
Italian Bread & Butter
Coffee or Tea
Dessert

So that's it. Hope this meets with your approval. I think it's a great deal for what we are getting and the food is amazing. Check out Aredeo's Mediterranean Grille on the net!

Jul 11, 2012: Did you book your rooms???
Hi gang,

I just got the report on the number of rooms reserved and it appears that only half of you signed up have reserved a room.

Also, there are 2 rooms listed for Rubaduc & Gizz (1 in each of your names) and 2 rooms listed for JWanders (1 in each of your names.) If this is correct - no problem but if either of you only wanted 1 room, you should call and fix that.

Thanks,

Mark

Jul 12, 2012: An FYI
I sent out the email about booking your rooms yesterday because the hotel only showed 8 rooms booked - some duplicates.

When you check in - or when you place your deposit during the reservation process - BE SURE TO SAY YOU ARE PART OF THE PINECONE ADVENTURE. This ensures you get the special rate we've negotiated.

If you've already made a reservation - just be sure at check in time. If you haven't made a reservation yet, be sure to mention Pinecone Adventures during that process.

We want to be sure everyone gets the discount they deserve.

Thanks,

Mark

Aug 29, 2012: Just a quick request for Bed & Boxing 5 at the Cape
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to check the roster of rooms for this event.
Please email me whether you've already reserved a room or if not, when you expect to make the reservation.

Thanks so much.

Aug 31, 2012: Tomorrow is cut off date for reservations!
Hi everyone,

I just heard that tomorrow, Sept 1 is the cutoff date for the special Pinecone Adventures weekend pricing. If you plan to go, please call them and make your reservations NOW!

All details on the Event Page. Please don't email me as we'll be in VT for the long holiday weekend. Hope you can make it.

Thanks,

Mark

Sep 4, 2012: New news
I just emailed my contact at the resort at the Cape and anyone booking between now and our Bed & Boxing weekend can still book at the negotiated package rate PROVIDED THERE IS AVAILABILITY WITH OPEN ROOMS.

If you haven't booked yet, do so soon.

Thanks,

Mark

Sep 24, 2012: Bed & Boxing 5 only weeks away~
Hi Gang,

Wanted to contact you with a few bits of info.

Firstly, if you are receiving this email, you've signed up for this event. If you are not going, please remove yourself from the AQ event page. If you are going, you should have made your reservations by now - if not, please do so this week!

Secondly, I need to get Ardeo's a count on meals for our Saturday night Italian buffet. You will find details of what's on the buffet on the event page. Cost is $20 + tax + gratuity. I'll announce which location (they have several on the Cape) the buffet will be Friday night when we meet at 6pm in our meeting room that first night of our weekend together.

Please email me if you are planning to attend the Saturday night buffet and the number in your party by this Friday so I can get the counts to the owner of Ardeo's

Also, in the past, we've had several new series for you for the event. We are not doing that this year since there are so many boxes within a 10 mile radius from our hotel. Be sure to print out and bring your own clues.

You are also free to plant event only or new boxes in the area and ask that you have clues available in a designated area in our meeting room so everyone may get them. Please do not publish your clues on AQ until after the event if the boxes are permanent. Many of you will be traveling a day or so to the event and may not have internet access.

There will be a short meeting at 6pm in our meeting room that Friday night of your arrival on October 19. The purpose will be to just present a short overview of the weekend - when and where your presence is required which are few - breakfasts, Saturday night buffet only. The front desk will inform you at check-in how to find the meeting room; which will also be the location of our breakfast buffet every morning. Details, you guessed it, on the event page!

The meeting room will be open all night for those night owls that want to leave your rooms, early birds, etc. You are free to read or use the room as you see fit. There's a smaller room across the hall with a refrigerator and kitchen that we also have use of. As in the past, we'll ask you (at a later date) to bring a snack or baked good or water to share with the group. More on that later.

We did a $10 grab bag last year and everyone who participated seemed to enjoy it. If you want to participate, please wrap or gift bag your item and place YOUR name on the tag. This will ensure that if you bring a gift; you get a gift. The grab bag will take place Saturday evening after the buffet at Ardeo's in our meeting room.

Lastly, again we've done our embroidered event patch to mirror the great event stamp image carved by Bungalow Boxer. See me all that weekend for your patch; priced at $5 each. Exact change is appreciated.

I think that's it for now. So email me by Friday if you are eating with us at Ardeo's Saturday night and the number in your party.

Thanks,

Mark

Oct 14, 2012: This coming weekend - important
Hi gang,

Bed & Boxing is almost here. Here are some things to consider:

1) Print out and bring your own clues.
2) If you would, please bring a snack to share or a baked good. There will be a table for snacks/baked goods and a counter in the Commodore Room - our room for the weekend so feel free to leave them there for the group.
3) Breakfast buffet promptly 8am every morning - Commodore Room
4) No grab bag this year.

Here's the rough weekend schedule:

As you know this is a pretty loose weekend and you can come and go as you please. Enjoy the indoor pool, etc.

Friday night - check in at 4pm or later. Make sure you have the "Pinecone Adventures" weekend pricing. Meet in the Commodore room for the evening after you eat for the event stamp, probably some new clues to boxes planted in the hotel (public areas only) or in the area, exchanges and just to relax. The Commodore Room is open to our group only to feel free to use it whenever you want.

Saturday - 8am Breakfast Buffet
Box on your own - pickup a friend or two from the gathering and enjoy all the Cape has to offer. Lunch on your own.
Be back and ready to make Ardeo's Dinner Buffet at 6 to 7;30. Please note we'll let you know the location as soon as we hear from the owner. He was going to pick one of his restaurants that would fit the size group we ended up with - which is 38. If I don't know where it is before I leave Friday AM, which I should and will email you, I will announce Friday night.

Sunday - 8am promptly in the Commodore Room, pack and check out of the hotel. You are free to box on the Cape at your leisure before returning home.

Can't wait to see you all. This should be all the info you need. Email me if you have any other question.

As of my count - you are all coming to the buffet at Ardeo's, correct? Sue & I will have to pay for anyone who said they would be there but changes their mind. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU WILL NOT BE COMING TO THE BUFFET SATURDAY NIGHT. Cost and details on the Event page on AQ.

Thanks,

Mark

Oct 15, 2012: Just to clarify
Hi again,

Your breakfasts (buffet) each day are covered in your room rate (2 breakfasts each day if you are a double; 1 each day if a single.) We eat together at the Commodore Room 8 to 9am but be there promptly at 8am.

Your buffet on Saturday night is NOT covered, a group activity and you will pay directly at the restaurant - Ardeo's at a location to be named later. Time is 6pm.

Friday night's dinner is on your own - not included and not a group activity since people arrive from different places at different times. When you check in, there should either be a sheet given you with some suggested places or ask your check-in person.

Sue & I like Captain Parker's, though we haven't been there in a while. Their clam chowder was terrific and award-winning.

Mark

Thanks,

Mark

Oct 18, 2012: Last message!
Hi gang,

The time approaches and I have some news.
Our Saturday night buffet at Aredo's will be at their South Yarmouth location located 23V White's Path, South Yarmouth.

Forecast calls for a little rain - but those of you who have been on theses B & B weekends in the past know we call it liquid sunshine.

Don't forget your clues, your snack/dessert item and anything else you might need to make this a fun weekend.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Mark

Jan 18, 2013: Bed & Boxing #6
Hi Gang,

Wanted to give you the heads up that next week I'll be placing this B & B 6 event listing on AQ.

Due to the overwhelming response that we return, we'll be heading back to the Cape for October 18, 19 and 20. I managed to shave some money off of our room rates so singles will be paying $200 for the weekend and doubles will be paying $110 each or $220 inclusive for the weekend.

Like last year, that covers 2 morning breakfast buffets, 2 nights lodging and all taxes and gratuities. I'll be contacting Joe at Ardeo's so we can return for that super Mediterranean buffet. If you're good, I might even have him include dessert! More on that later.

So watch the AQ event listing and we hope that you can join us!
