Description

Okay - this year's event isn't even cold and folks are asking about next year. So in time honored tradition... lets go camping at Thomas Point Beach. Who knows what the local yokals will cook up for you - but its sure to be a hell of a good time!

***Dec 14, 2010 Update***
Okay - so the planning committee had its first unofficial, official meeting. We are asking all that are coming to help provide boxes for the weekend. This event is going to be a 'getting to know' each other kind of weekend - and a chance to get all those boxes you've never had time to get before.
Each camper is being invited to carve the stamp for the top of his/her campsite post. We would like to have different themes for different days:
Monday - Thursday is a tropical location
Friday - Foreign country
Saturday - Favorite US vacation spot
This is an attempt to encourage boxers to visit with each other at the campground.

Friday night we'll have massages by Richie - and a Lobster bake. No night boxing.
Saturday breakfast - sign in to the event - print all your clues as we will NOT be providing clue booklets. We will give you limited instructions - so its going to be a bit different.
Saturday afternoon - 5ish - group photo on the grandstand followed by the 50 states raffles
Saturday dinner - bring your own campfire fixings - we'll be cooking around the campfires - probably a couple of them and just chillaxing.
And when the lights go out - night boxing extreme... get that ink ready cause we're gonna make you work off all those roasted marshmallows to get this series.
Sunday - check-out

***Sept 6, 2010 Update***
Looks like I won't be able to get away scott free from cooking. we are going to hold a lobster bake at some point in the weekend. Possibly Friday night. It will have to be pre-paid as soon as I nail down prices (which I won't know until next spring at the earliest.) Lobster, potatoes, corn on the cob and grilled chicken for those non seafood eaters.

Also - my brother will be hosting tented massages. Twenty minutes for $10. These will need to be pre-booked so we know how long he'll need to hang out for. If you need to know if he's worth it... ask the ladies that experienced his magical hands this year! He'll be inside a tent, so you'll get all the bang for your buck - naked if you want! Add your name to the tracker if you are interested. http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gTrackerId=4732

Aug 23, 2010: Boxes for August 2011 event
Okay - so maybe Maine isn't where you REALLY want to be on vacation. In lieu of adding more boxes to the area, the planning committee and I are asking that everyone that attends/camps carve a stamp of their dream vacation location to share. Set it up with Thomas Point Beach as a location if you want or as a WOM.

But basically since the Brunswick area is pretty well saturated with boxes - this will give you a chance to get those you didn't get already - or spend the day at Thomas Point doing exchanges or just relaxing!

We do have a few things up our sleeves - so no worries there : )

We are asking that no tabletop event boxes be added to this event. And asking that you leave all of yours at home : ) Thanks. I'm even leaving all of mine at home too!

Jan 22, 2011: Thomas Point Reservations
Okay - so I submitted my reservation for the weekend... I'll be there - at possibly two locations from Thursday until Sunday. Start submitting those reservations so we can make sure we are all slotted together. In the notes section - mention your a letterboxer and they will put us together!

Feb 10, 2011: Thomas Point Reservations
Okay - mine was confirmed. I'll be at site 33 and 43. Yup - I'm flingin that much mud this year! As folks get confirmation of their site number - let me know and I'll post it here. Folks will need that infor this year. And don't forget to start carving your site boxes. One per day of your visit! The themes are lsited above!

Mar 10, 2011: August event
Wildcats softball challenge! Bring your gloves, bats and balls - Dave from Team Wildcats wants to have a softball game during the event. If you play - you'll get ink! So let the teams start forming and we'll see who wins the boxing softball challenge!

Mar 28, 2011: Maine Event: Mealtime Update
Time to start planning for vittals while you're camping in Maine! Same as last year - meals are all PREPAID or you don't get to eat... We'll have individual (adult) prices and family plans to save you bucks... family plans include 2 adults and 2 kids. All money needs to be sent to Teacup and NO she does NOT have paypal... Money needs to be in her hands by July 23, 2011.

Breakfast is $4 per person or $10 for families
Friday nights Lobster bake is $12 per person - no family discount for lobster, sorry. Extra lobsters $8 per lobster.
Friday night Chicken alternative - $8 per person - $25 for families
Saturday night is a BYOV - bring your own vittals to the campfire. We'll be chillin and cooking around LOTS of campfires... but mud won't be cooking!

Meals include:
Breakfast: fruit, muffins, scrambled eggs, homefries, pancakes, bacon and beverages
Lobster Bake - 1 lobster, tossed salad, corn on the cob, boiled new potatoes, dessert and beverages
Chicken Alternative - same as above except you'll be eating buzzard instead of crustaceans : )

May 10, 2011: Calling all parents...
As you know we like to hand out stuff to everyone attending the event... and we don't want the kids to be left out. So if you have a child that will be 10 and under - we need to know about it. Please let me know their name and age so that the stuff we get is gender/age appropriate. Nuthin' worse than having to play with stuff that won't work for you! We need to know the sooner the better! Thanks

Jun 14, 2011: Maine's August event
Hello All!
I hope you're carving away for your stamps that will be 'planted' at your campsites. A small request - if after the event, you'd like to share your stamps with some southern boxers for the Welcome to Paris event hosted by Electric Medic, let me know. I'll be shipping some off to them for their event. They did say if you want the stamp back - they would return it. If you want it planted permanently down there, they'd be happy to do that as well.

Jun 25, 2011: Head's Up
If you didn't have a chance to pick up the Farmville series last year - you'll need to get whats left this year. After the event I'm pulling it to make room for next summers event!

Jun 27, 2011: room for a tent?
Craig in CT just posted to the boards that he'd be interested in splitting a camping site. If you'd be willing to do that - please contact him through AQ.

Jun 30, 2011: Tent sites or not
Could everyone please shoot me an e-mail letting me know their confirmed tent site. If you are not camping - but planning on playing - just drop me a note about that as well...

thanks

Jul 4, 2011: Feeding the masses
Yes indeedy, the orders are pouring in. So far we have 4 for breakfast and 8 for the different dinner options. Jeez, Mud's immediate family is more people than that.

Jul 4, 2011: Feeding the masses...part 2
You still have time to send in payments for your meals. We are trying to determine ahead of time who will be wanting which meals. Buzzards and crustaceans don't grow on trees ya know. ;)

Jul 7, 2011: OMG! don't e-mail me
Yikes. We have a letterboxer whose first name is Abby. Would SHE please e-mail me.
