We are so excited to be hosting our first event.

Come join us at gorgeous Lake Bray on Mt. Tom State Reservation in Holyoke, MA. There is a beautiful lake with picnic tables and grills. There is a building with a great patio, indoor gathering space and bathrooms. Mt. Tom has many beautifully-groomed trails and printed trail maps available. More info on the park can be seen here: http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/central/mtom.htm (There is a $2 per car fee to get in.)

There are several boxes already there, and we will of course be adding more! Recently added boxes we placed include: Holyoke Heritage, Happily Ever After, and Bo Peep: Hidden Pictures. We will have 2 traveling event boxes from far away: “Oh, the Places You'll Go! (7)” will be coming up from Louisiana, and “Hey, That’s Not Chocolate (15)” is coming in from Washington state.

Our theme is Children's Fictional Characters. Table-top sets will include an awesome Wizard of Oz series, carved by Memere's talented granddaughter, as well as "A Very Muppet Letterbox" carved by yours truly. Several boxes will be visiting before they get planted, these boxes include: Mickey 6-Pack, Pooh & Friends, Knuffle Bunny's Bad Day, Sesame Friends, and more. We certainly welcome other table-top boxes as well.

UPDATE 05/06/2010: Several folks have offered to carve favorite characters for the event. So we are creating a special event box called “The Pigeon is Driving the Bus!”. (This is based on the well-loved book "Don’t let the Pigeon Drive the Bus", by Mo Willems.) What we will do is start with a Pigeon and a bus stop, all the other characters will be waiting at the bus stop for the Pigeon to take them for a ride. If you would like to have a character for the bus stop, please let me know and I’ll add it to the list. There will only be one logbook for this series. At the end of the event you are welcome to have your stamp back, or we can plant it somewhere for you.
